Why is it so easy for people to understand that gay men may want to appropriate and play with femininity but so hard for them to understand gay women might want to do the same with masculinity
So easy to comprehend calling them bitches and queens. To understand when a gay man greets another with a hey girl. But for a gay woman to want to be a king or prince. To want to be called man casually. Use the occasional he. Suddenly this is unheard of

We have terfs who admit that ace discourse was their first step towards radfem ideas. We’ve had multiple break downs of how terfs and radfems try to radialize other people by using ace/bi/pan/nb/queer/etc. discourse. We’ve had multiple break downs of how popular exclusionist arguments use the same faulty logic and arguments that radfems use.
Can exclusionists maybe finally admit that this is a problem and either drop the discourse entirely or try to come up with arguments that aren’t copied from radfems?
This is really important to recognize, because exclusionists don’t often want to recognize this dirty little truth about their community.

This feeling is strange and complicated. On the one hand it's legit quite cool that nonbinary pronouns are becoming more widespread! On the other, I've spent my whole life pursuing interests and hobbies and ideals that weren't seen as particularly feminine, and when I was younger this was a major source of bullying and stress alongside some generalized misogyny taking the form of "you can't do or be anything you think is cool because you are innately inferior and to do otherwise means violating your nature," and it took me a while to conclude that this was just straight horseshit top to bottom and I could do whatever I wanted and present myself however I wanted without in any way being Not A Girl, and now it's like the exact same concept has flipped sides and is coming from a point of theoretical validation but still calculates out to "that's not very ladylike of you, you must be something else". anyway she/her thanks gang
I think it's like. the understanding that the gender binary is a small part of a much wider space of identities is separate from the understanding that a lot of that gender binary is a false dichotomy that artificially walls off universal human experiences behind specific pronouns and while the first concept is gaining wider understanding the second is lagging a little, which means "I am a girl and I like doing boy things" reads as "oh I've heard about this, you must be one of the Others who don't do the binary" rather than "the concept of 'boy things' is stupid from the jump"

what this post is NOT talking about: using they/them pronouns for someone you don't know, aren't sure of, hasn't had a chance to introduce themselves, etc.
what this post IS talking about: my highly personal experience seeing some people "correcting" my commenters that were using she/her pronouns for me, because, despite me exclusively using she/her pronouns and saying so whenever asked, through no action of mine they had gotten the idea that I was using "they/them".

one of the funniest thing that happens to me regularly is when i'm dressed The Way I Dress, esp in very short shorts or very audacious trousers, and straight women start giving me A Look that's meant to be like. a policing look between women, to show social disapproval
but then they look up at my face, realise i'm a man and NOT a woman, and you see them doing like. a double take, often with their jaws full on dropped
bc their intention was to do the crab bucket slutshaming thing at another woman and it doesn't apply to me... or does it?
bc sometimes they decide to go back to Plan A and do the slutshamey lipcurl of disgust (they've decided i count as a woman) and other times they sort of tut and avert their eyes entirely (they've decided i count as a homo)
and other times they just. stare. (forget to decide)
favourite reactions by bystanders to my general mode and manner of dress:
straight women who do the above. they do it most if i'm in a crop top, and middle aged cishet women get Particularly Mad about it
straight (or "straight") men who are staring at me, and then i make eye contact with them, and because of Rules of Masculinity they hold my gaze to show they're manlier than me. the longer this goes on the more he realises he is making meaningful eye contact across a public place with A Homosexual (Known) and the more visibly unsettled he becomes until he breaks eye contact
straight men who look at my waist/ass and look appraising, then see my face and blanche with disappointment at the fact that All That belongs to man
