one little thing ilya does that they don’t acknowledge but shane really appreciates is the way he asks for things. when they’re together and ilya’s drink is getting warm, he doesn’t ask “can you put ice in this, моя любовь?” he asks “can you put three ice in this, моя любовь?” so shane doesn’t stand at the ice maker and worry about how much ice is too much ice or conversely how little ice is not enough. he can just get him three ice cubes and feel accomplished.
same goes with coffee, when ilya needs a top off he shows shane on the side of the mug the line he wants his mug re-filled to. it really helps because shane wants to be helpful. he wants to get things for his husband and receive a kiss on the cheek when he does because it feels like something normal couples do. but he doesn’t want to deal with the dread of having to ask follow up questions because the instructions weren’t clear enough.
