Here’s some fluff to apologise for the sheer amount of angst I’ve been giving y’all recently.
Sirius stared at the chemicals in front of him. He was so close to a breakthrough, he could feel it…
“Dr Black?” One of his interns broke this carefully crafted train of thought, earning them a serious glare.
“This had better be important.”
“Uh, security’s about to kick someone out, but he says he’s your partner? I think his name was Remus something? Benjy told me to come here and ‘prove him wrong’ so he can kick him out.” Sirius almost immediately brightened at that. It just proved that it was pretty much impossible to argue with Remus. Even poor, stoic Benjy couldn’t get him out of the building.
“Oh, uh… okay?” They left, Sirius turning back to his work and staring at it, head starting to ache at the sight of it. There was something there, he was so sure of it. Glaring aimlessly in the direction of it definitely wasn’t helping, but it was either that or he got caught writing on the walls of the lab at 3am again.
Still, not matter how caught up in his work he was, he noticed when Remus walked in. It was like everything gravitated towards Remus when he walked into a room, brightly coloured bag in hand, wrapping and arm around Sirius and pulling him away from his work. Sirius didn’t hesitate in turning to face the man with a smile reserved only for him.
Then Remus bloody kissed him and god Sirius should have cared that half of his coworkers were watching him. After a moment, Sirius pulled away and observed the ungodly amount of jewellery he was wearing. Crystal necklaces, silver rings, bracelets, and he just knew Remus still had that anklet on, paired with dark eyeliner over his eyes and small star studs in his ears.
“Moony.” Sirius whispered under his breath, as Remus shoved a bag into his hand.
“Forgot your lunch, my love.” Sirius arched an eyebrow.
“So you practically fist fought my security guard to bring it?”
“Missed you. Also, I had a feeling you were driving yourself mad.”
How the fuck did he always know?
“Don’t stress yourself out too much. Listen, the moon’s going to be screwing with sleep patterns for a while, so I’ve got some stuff in.” Ah, Sirius knew what that meant.
They were getting high later.
Sirius bit back a smile as Remus kept talking, something about the full moon and REM sleep, somehow pulling star signs into it, before he turned around and left with a quick ‘love you!’
Everyone was silent for a moment, Sirius watching after Remus. He seemed to have a sent a shockwave through the overly professional lab, nobody correcting him for essentially breaking all the rules with his jewellery and open toed shoes, Remus an absolute force to be reckoned with. It was especially odd after seeing Sirius, the insane mess of a scientist turn away from his work in a heartbeat for him.
Well, opposites attract and all.
