Laius and Marcille's actual relationship dynamic is so much more nuanced and weird than anything anyone on twitter is capable of comprehending.
Like Marcille and Falin? That's easy, they're lesbians and Marcille would commit magical crimes against humanity for the sake of getting Falin back. Clear cut, no ambiguity.
But Laius and Marcille? Where do I even start. The succubus incident. Laius's absolute unfailing borderline insane faith in Marcille's ability and competence. Marcille's willingness to go along with everything and anything Laius suggests despite her objections. They're both freaks but opposite ends of the freak spectrum and for that reason they're totally inseparable.
Everyone saying siblings-in-law or platonic partners in the notes is proving that Tumblr also cannot comprehend what they have going on, I've seen like two people total that actually pick up what I'm saying.
It's not clear cut, it's flexible, messy, ambiguous. Laios's succubus manifested as Marcille trying to kiss him and then Marcille turning into a monster and offering to transform him into a monster by biting him, while Marcille's manifests as a heroic nobleman on a white horse sweeping her off her feet, which Laius IS at the end of the manga. Things Marcille loves about Falin are things she has in common with Laius. The things Falin loves about Marcille are the same things Laius admires in Marcille.
The L word is never used and their relationship is never explicitly framed as one specific thing, only that their bond is stronger than any other in the entire cast, and they live together after the story ends.
What are they? Together. What does that mean? Figure it out.
it's important to me that people know the original "he would not fucking say that" was in response to a tiktok where someone said eric cartman would thank you for asking for his pronouns. Like it just doesn't hit the same without context.
everytime someone uses "he would not fucking say that" for something he would absolutely fucking say given slightly different circumstances or has already fucking said i immediately become indignant cause you can't waste a joke like this on mild characterisation nitpicks. sorry. it has to be on par with Any Pronouns Cartman.
Sorry about your boyfriend. Yeah we tried to activate his effect and he got negated by a hand trap. Uh-huh he got sent to the Graveyard. We tried to get him out but they chained Called by the Grave. He got banished. Sorry.
I’m absolutely obsessed with the reddit side of the Tolkien fandom, in particular, this discussion regarding how Sauron fits the ring on his finger, as well as penal compensation a la Lord Farqaud style
Oh my GOD YOUR BRAIN IS AMAZING
I couldn't not try.

The way Orym’s passive perception is both a funny meta game thing but also in game is kinda fucking devastating.
Because the reason why Orym’s perception is so heightened is because he feels like he can’t afford to be caught unaware again. He is hyper vigilant because if he misses something again, someone will die or get hurt.
Stats wise, having such a high level of perception is fun and badass, but for a person? To be so attuned to everything happening all the time? To be constantly seeing everyone’s subtle movements? Always noticing the shadows in the corner? Fucking exhausting. Insanely mentally draining. Emotionally draining.
It’s almost fitting that after another traumatic event, Orym’s perception gets even higher. More to watch out for. More that he missed.
Dark Souls and its community are completely fascinating to me. Were I some kind of academic I would clamor to study it. This process of textual interpretation is more or less a scale model of how many religions have been established. The way it constructs its cosmology to fundamentally wield and serve allegory, which then resonates with the respective community so entirely and fosters such genuine conversation strikes me as something approaching a modern incarnation of ancient mythology. And on top of that, I do think the fundamental way you engage with it as a piece of art functions as a really effective interactive parable about a lot of shit. Mostly about death not necessarily being a bad thing (which is reinforced by its cosmology and theming), of self restraint and control, of perseverance, of struggle being an innate quality of existing within these grand cycles and forces. It even has something to say politically, with doing as you're told and upholding the status quo being the worst option upon closer examination. It blends a lot of really interesting philosophical influences and presents them in very simple packages, which allows the audience to have a lot reflected back on them and find a lot of meaning in fucking everything. I genuinely think that the Dark Souls series is the best example of videogames as art. It's really profound, and, I think, mature. It can be really, really powerful if you meet it on its own terms. I think about it. A lot.
Bold to compare redditors reading flavor text for +10 years as potentially comparable to religious in any way, but like poison, we have to pick our gods. The known lore and story are somehow both inscrutable and pedantic at the same time when reading anything beyond what's directly in front of us and even that is questionable at Literally Any Given Moment. Personally, that would be fine, but the community has conflated it and its method of story delivery to cosmically annoying levels of pretentiousness, when something tells me that wasnt FromSofts intent. Yeah, and its community is insufferable.
how about you both fuck yourselves
It's always funny to me when someone's like Americans suck Americans are so weird and I'm like yeah buddy you'll get no argument from me and then they go on to be like "ew they SMILE at you on the BUS" or "they say THANK YOU TOO MUCH at restaurants" and I'm like wait hang on thats what you're going with???? We do WAY worse stuff than that dude like are you sure that's your final answer
Oh exactly
Truly, like, anything dnd_shorts says should be ignored as unreliable until it is repeated by someone with journalistic integrity, and anyone on any platform (Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, Reddit) who is giving dnd_shorts as a source should be also ignored.
Generally, anyone on Twitter or YouTube or etc. who leans hard into the same behaviors of stirring the outrage post and is constantly saying they heard something that will anger the community with a source that boils down to "dude, trust me" should be ignored as an unreliable source, as should anyone who uses these people as a source.
At this point, anyone using dnd_shorts as a source is spreading confusion and misinformation and is harming efforts to ensure the OGL situation improves and to ensure a future where the changes benefit the community.
Gabe Hicks has a good thread, also this one (which also some good that can come out of changes). Anyway, be vigilant against misinformation and mob mentality, be wary of outrage farming, focus on criticizing official statements and what has been verified through reputable journalism, be constructive not simply disruptive, and remember to take the time to vocalize positive changes and improvements too.

I hate how the pop culture understanding of ikari shinji is polarised over whether he's a whiny baby or a toxic incel when he's just like. a 14 year old boy with anxiety
"yeah but he's weird about sex" did you have friends as a teenager who weren't
damn that's crazy I wonder if anything happened to him before that
much in the same way you can boil down oedipus to "in context it's normal to kill your father and fuck your mother" yes
I've been trying to think of how to respond to this (and whether to respond to it) for a minute now but I'm just gonna present it as-is
It is so funny watching your desperate and futile battle with the media illiterate
This is not a drill. Our new Community Guidelines are here.
We recently introduced Community Labels to give everyone more control over their dashboard experience. With this new feature, you can adjust your feed to your preferred comfort level by setting the types of content you want to see. It was our first step toward a more open Tumblr.
Today, we’re taking the next step: We now welcome a broader range of expression, creativity, and art on Tumblr, including content depicting the human form (yes, that includes the naked human form).
So, even if your creations contain nudity, mature subject matter, or sexual themes, you can now share them on Tumblr using the appropriate Community Label so that everyone remains in control of the types of content they see on their dash.
We have updated our Community Guidelines to reflect these changes; the rest of our content policies remain the same: We still don’t allow hate, spam, violent threats, or anything illegal, and visual depictions of sexually explicit acts remain off-limits on Tumblr (if you want to know more about that, our CEO Matt recently explained why it’s not feasible for us to safely and successfully support porn communities at this time). If you come across these types of content, please continue to report them to us.
Similarly, if you come across content on Tumblr that doesn’t appear to be appropriately labeled, please let us know. This is how we’ll work together to create safer spaces for everyone on Tumblr, whatever their interests and needs.
We hope this shift creates more room for artistic expression to flourish on Tumblr while empowering each of you to craft your own experience and safely explore and discover the things you love.
