TO ANYONE CHATTING TO SOMEONE ONLINE

If you are considering meeting up with someone online use this trick identify who really are who they claim to be:

1. Ask them to Skype 2. If they refuse or can’t for some reason ask for a current selfie 3. If they also refuse or can’t do not meet up with them 4. If they provide one ask them to send another with them holding 3 fingers up 5. If they refuse read step 3 6. If they provide a selfie where they show 3 fingers they are probably for real

(If you’re still unconvinced try again with them drawing something in their hand)

I SAY THIS FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY please spread this message as more and more young people are lured out into situations where they get kidnapped because they weren’t 100% sure the person they were talking to was real.

If hearing this freaks the other person out and they decline, TERMINATE ALL CONTACT. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, go directly to block. I’m 26 years old and if you tell me you’re coming with a friend or parent for your own safety, I will automatically say “hey, cool. Y’know, if you’re nervous we can just do Starbucks or something, I’m okay meeting in a busy place. That way your [adult/friend] can hang out, too, and they don’t have to pay for [admission, a movie ticket, whatever].” Your safety and comfort is important to me, and is important to any good person you meet online who wants to meet up IRL. In the early 2000s when I first started seeing online safety PSAs, this was a widely-spread tip. Use it.

And for the record, you can use this over the age of 18, too. I still won’t meet people from online except in public places. You never know–that person holding up three fingers and drawing a Pokemon on their palm could be some pervert’s child, niece, nephew, family friend’s kid who was encouraged to take some silly pictures. Always voice-verify and always meet in public, with another person if possible.

Warning all artists!

Whether you have heard of this blog or not, there is a blog going around called badartbukakke that reposts peoples art to make fun of it. This specific blog reposts art to make fun of it because it represents minorities (gay people, people of colour, etc.) and just mocks bad art that beginners make. Whether you think the art posted on the blog is good or bad, what they are doing is wrong.

First of all, the fact that they are reposting art and tagging it as rude of spiteful things like “tumblr style” or “representashun”(??). The fact that theyre reposting things that represent minorities and making fun of it is fucking shitty as hell, because the world isn’t filled with Caucasian, straight and cis people. People are different, people can be of colour or trans or fucking gay and making fun of people for headcanoning characters as such or making their ocs such is really fucking shitty.

Second of all, although they do give critiques sometimes! More than half of the time they just post the art without giving actual critiques, unless being requested. This doesn’t give the artist a chance to improve their art, instead just making them feel bad about it and not knowing what to do. They could always improve their methods by, instead of insulting the art, critiquing it.

As well as all of tat above, they repost it without credit, which is disgusting and rude and as someone who has had their art reposted many times, it drains an artist.

Please, dont give this blog attention. Please report them. What they doing is wrong and disgusting and they need to stop.

Hey fam, we need to smash these fuckers. Report for harm to minors and/or harassment. Misattribution if you know they reposted your art. But for real. These idiots tried to anonymously contact me that “someone reposted your art” on my DA account within an hour of having posted it to their shitty blog. (This was like a month ago or something before they started getting high traffic so I just blocked and ignored it all) I don’t care so much for myself because they had to do some serious mental gymnastics to try and drag me.  But for real they try to claim that they don’t want to actually harass the people whose art they repost but they ARE actively contacting a lot of those people with fake good-faith messages so that they can relish in knowing the artist is going to see it. This is super not okay. Shit like this is super scarring for younger or beginning artists, some of who drew some really fucking personal pieces that got submitted.  There is no room in the world for people like this.

You cannot have a conversation about rape culture without talking about the issue of consent. Blaming the victim is standard practice in rape cases; arguments like “She seemed awake to me,” and “She was really drunk and had been hitting on guys all night” are disturbingly common.

Consent means that each person is aware of their partner’s boundaries and is respectful of both verbal statements and nonverbal cues. It means that if you’re hooking up with someone, you can decide to stop at any time. 

Most of all, it means that no matter how drunk you are or what you’re wearing or whether or not you’re giving off “mixed signals,” another person NEVER has permission to use your body in a way that makes you feel unsafe or uncomfortable.

Just to put some perspective in this for those people who may be confused at how a guy can get a boner but not really be sexually charged, so to speak… Ladies, you know how your nipples get hard for seemingly no reason (sans stepping into a cold room anyway)? Also a common response to rape is to freeze in fear and allow it to happen. So just because a person didn’t scream or fight back, doesn’t mean they consented to it.

To add to what @someoneintheshadow446 sometimes a victim is emotionally manipulated/forced to allow it to happen, no matter how much they said “no.” These people question themselves later, wondering if they really did consent (kinda similar to gaslighting).
