Introduction 🌟🎭

Hi! We're The Asterism Theatre, a polyfrag DID system, but you can just call us Astérisme for short.

We use they/them or they/star pronouns collectively, and our system as a whole is systemfluid, abrosexual (+mostly demiromantic), intersex, and polyamorous. Bodily in our early 20s, very queer, autistic (+ADHD), trans, and disabled.

We're an introject-heavy, polyfrag DID system, with a very high alter count (at least hundreds), and an absolute ton of amnesia, and will probably post about that! While we have subsystems and layers that have less introjects, our introjects are usually who front most often; We also have a lot of nonhumans in system (especially demons/angels and such due to ramcoa).

Some of us are pagan too, particularly eclectic pagan witches, mainly focused in deity work and cartomancy. (Though we do also have a few people in the system who are Muslim!)

We also do a lot of digital art (2D illustration), and are also starting to learn 3D! We also love music, both listening to it, and writing/singing our own.

Special interests include (but are not limited to) DID/OSDD, fandoms (many of which are also sources for our introjects), art and animation, theatre and acting (aspiring actor!), cosplay (by introjects), mythology and stories (of any kind really, written, comics, fanfic, visual, tv/movies and theatre), and animals (peticularly wolves and dogs).

We'll usually write our names / who's fronting when we post, though we almost always have a shell in front as well (known in our system as The Extras). We have some subsystems of alters who are hard if not impossible to differentiate from each other, so if people seem confusingly different and yet have the same name, that's probably why. If we're blurry and/or The Extras posting, we'll either not put a name, or just write "Extras" or "shells". Alter (or subsystem) intros will be tagged as #alter intro and/or #subsystem intro.

Switchboard can import all of your system info easily from your Octocon export! Just select 'Import from Octocon', select the export JSON file, and choose whether to erase any alters you might've already made in Switchboard, or keep them in addition to imported ones.

No Alter Limit || Designed for Large and Small Systems

Switchboard won't limit how many alters you can have, even in incredibly large polyfragmented systems.

Never Shutting Down

Switchboard is a passion project, run on our own home server. We decided to make it because we ourselves need it so direly. Even if much of it's development takes some time, it's never getting shut down.

Add & Track Alters + Front History

Add alters, names, import profile pictures (automatically generates copy-able permalink too), add descriptions with text markdown, alter colour, and more! Track who's fronting and view front history.

Custom Fields

Add custom fields, including with markdown! Field types can be plain text, markdown text, colours, numbers, or dates! More types will be added in the future.

Themes + Import/Export

You can change the colours, font, and theme of the app, and even for each alter! 

Import a custom font, like a specific dyslexia font for example (including per alter). You can also import/export themes like templates!

You can also adjust what alter boxes look like (for instance square or rounded edges, or flush profile pictures), and the colour an alter's box glows when fronting (customize any colours yourself, or choose from 26 Pride flag presets!).

Android, iOS, & Web App

Switchboard can be downloaded from the Play Store, App Store, or used via it's web app!

Future Features:

Images in Markdown

Import displayable images into descriptions or custom markdown fields! This will allow for the aesthetic and theming customization some apps have had before. Including images in themes' import/export!

Friends & Therapist View + Privacy Buckets

Add friends (systems or singlets), as well as add people with therapist-mode accounts, who can view your system info! This will eventually have privacy-buckets too. You'll also be able to toggle which friends you want front-change notifications from.

Tags/Folders

Add alters to different folders & sub-folders, with share-able descriptions.

Tiered Fronters

Option to tier those added to front; Eg. "Main Fronter", "Second closest", "Third closest", etc.

Import from Other Alternatives + Export

Import system info from other alternatives like SimplyPlural, PluralKit, TupperBox, etc.

Possibly features to export back to some of them too, or maybe even sync, if this feature is wanted and we get enough support.

We know many systems pick one app or another due to which ones have features another might not, especially when it sometimes makes or breaks accessability. Even if it takes us some time, we're committed to having all the features of previous alternatives, and more.

Alter Image Boards

A page under each alter you can add a few images, like having multiple faceclaims, for example!

Polls

A feature providing in-system polls, that any alters can vote on, if they choose to.

Whatever else users might request!

Bottom one that Techno did is neat as fuck, took him like an hour, and he kept fucking switching hands (how is he that successfully ambidextrous? Fuck you DID for not giving that to most of us 😂 )

Update! We're needing to fundraise this, so our friend (and us) can make enough money to survive right now, would people be willing to contribute?

App is close to ready to publish, even if not everything will be on there quite yet, features include:

- import from Octocon (eventually import from SimplyPlural too, as well as Tupper, Pluralkit, etc)

- open source; you can also run it on your own servers if you're techy like that

- custom alter theming (even per alter if wanted), like images, full markdown, colour, font; export/import theming

- custom app font and theme (we personally liked shoving a dyslexia font in for ourself)

The app won't be disappearing, we're both systems that need it ourselves, and wanted to make something that had all the things Octocon and Simply and others did. Currently my friend who develops this does app development in her free time, and has her own home server she uses for her projects she makes like this.

We'll post some screenshots of it when we're able to later, and maybe a ko-fi and/or Patreon; Let us know if you'd be willing to contribute! Anything helps.

I find it weird, actually, that today it's more common to have sex with casual acquaintances you meet on the Hookup App than to have sex with people you already know and like and have fun with. and how if two friends have sex, there's an assumption there must be underlying romantic feelings. because apparently casual non-romantic sex is fine, but only with people you don't already like and care about?

So the funniest difference between me and kiddo's previous foster mother is that she was telling me I've gotta call ahead and make sure all the staff at the hairdressers know kiddo is trans so they don't misgender him, and make sure they know he's a foster kid so they understand why it's me taking him and not his real mum and all that, and I've just said nah that's not how you do it.

I go to the barber, I say "my son would like a haircut", they do not question me about whether he is my son on either point. This has worked perfectly so far. You just don't give anyone a reason to question you? If I say he is my son it is so unbelievably rude for someone else to go "um are you sure?".

But yesterday the barbers apprentice looked at him and asked if he is getting a woman's cut, and instead of arcing up and explaining trans theory and respect for kiddos gender to someone who I knew heard me the first time and had clocked him, I just channeled the spirit of a Christian Mother In The Toy Aisle and said "well, he is a boy so no, he will have a boys cut".

Shuts down bullshit immediately! Nobody wants to be yelled at by someone's Karen mother! Kiddo does not hear this little pricks opinion on trans people or get humiliated by being outed in the barbers. You do not have to tell people all your intimate details! You certainly do not have to tell people all your kids intimate details either, especially if you think they'll be a target.

This is an excellent metaphorical tool for the toolbox! There are lots of situations that this tactic will work very well for.

There will also be times when you need to pre-qualify a situation, and that's ok, too.

When my eldest daughter started her transition at 30, she asked about bra shopping. I did, in fact, call the shops that I thought might be good to go to for a proper fitting. What I said on the phone was, "My adult daughter has reached a point in her transition where she needs a bra. Is there someone on your staff that would feel comfortable assisting us?"

I'm delighted to report that at Victoria's Secret, the answer I got was a very chipper "Oh, yes Ma'am! *ANY* member of our staff would be TOTALLY comfortable helping you!" And they were!

No matter what method you use, the real trick is to act like this is Totally Normal the whole time.

I am someone who is the sole caregiver and source of income for two severely disabled transfems (who also happen to both be therians). I talked to them both before posting this.

This is not hypothetical for me. I have a partner who cannot load a dishwasher. I have a partner who cannot take her medicine on her own. I have a partner who cannot hold a job for disability reasons. I have a partner who can barely leave the house most days.

Not everyone is compatible with someone who has high accessibility and/or caregiving needs. Not everyone can work through a relationship that is assymetrical in so many ways.

But the way that Tara Knight addresses these subjects is not from a place of compassion. It is not from a place of nuance or simply acknowledging that her own experiences were negative and harmful to her. It does not treat the puppygirl as a person genuinely deserving of love and caregiving.

While I believe its absolutely possible for marginalized people to enact weaponized incompetence - from my own lived experience I know the story is almost never that simple. Life is way messier than that. The reasons are always more complex than "she chose to be incompetent".

You don't need permission to leave your partner, from anyone. You can leave a relationship for any reason. But you don't have to then turnaround, and generalize an entire demographic. The story told is a personal one, but it was then extrapolated to a blanket statement.

There's a very casual and ordinary cruelty there. The one that's so often present with people who, are simply not compatible with a type of person, and then come to believe that no one is.
