Lets see what we can do with tumblr!
Whether or not #college is necessary always exposes short term #thinking and or obvious comments like, "college ain't for everybody"...No shit! Nor is a #vegan diet, nor is #democratic/#republican party, nor is #NYC, nor is the #USA! The ironic thing about all these discussions is that every thing we love in tech, all the social concepts we use to explain things, everything we know about medicine, etc were developed and/or nutured by people that are/were highly educated. In fact, even discussion of whether or not college is necessary can't be had without the people that went to college making it necessary for us to have the convo!!! I ain't going back and forth with y'all today, so I'll end with this, whether or not college is necessary on the micro/individual level is a legit #debate, on the macro level it's a stupid position. #yeahIsaidit. #message #thursday #wisdom https://www.instagram.com/dbethea15/p/BypvywhA1UK/?igshid=1dhtfuzx9omi9

060519: All About Perspective
The older I get, the more I realize that the “power” is really the perspective one chooses to view the world (maybe a “choice” is not really there of us to make, but that is another philosophical debate for another post). For example, if you buy a new car, all of a sudden, you see your car “everywhere”, when before that, you may not have noticed it as much.
Now image if you approach everyday life looking for problems, racism, sexism, etc. guess what is going to happen, you are going to find them! Now I am not suggesting that those things are nonexistent, what I am suggesting is that how much we notice those things is based on perspective.
If the above is true, is it better for us to focus on noticing the things that bring us joy and/or gets us closer to our goals in life? I mean, as far as we know, we only have one life. What is the life worth living? Maybe the better question is, what is the best life worth pursing because unless we end our own life, we are going to have to live A life until well...its over.
6.4.19 Thoughts on NJ Transit
Chase freedom instead if money! My overall goal is to "buy" as much as my time back from others. After I have my time back, I can make more educated decisions on where I want to "spend" it.

Be aware of your social/political/economic blindspots. Adjust your rearview mirrors accordingly.
I had this copy of The #Art of #War for close to 20 years. It's all beat up...#water damage, #highlights, underlines, etc Today's over all #message is to win battles and wars without fighting. One of the best way for me to achieve this is to set up boundaries to my time, AND #systematize by #days and #weeks as much as possible...most importantly it's to tell myself that certain battles arent even worth having anyway... How can I get better and/or what suggestions do have? The #fight to get back to my fighting #weight continues. Yesterday the #devil #ko me last 15 seconds of round 12. Let me tell you...I ate 3 peanut butter cookies and a trial size #butterfinger...and yes it was all #delicious. Do I #regret it? #nope. I don't know if I have the time for regrets anymore. it takes up too much time and energy to #think about. That was #yesterday, #today is a new #day...starting off #great. Tomorrow is #recovery. In the meantime #pray for the kid... #instawisdom #instamood #professorsaidso #process #strivingforgreatness https://www.instagram.com/p/ByFuL7Tg8Du/?igshid=1om149fqkqs8k
Day 149 (NJ Transit): Next Level Shit. 1% Better Everyday.
Do you believe you can get better 1% better everyday? Below is a graph of what 1% improvement everyday over a year vs what 1% back sliding looks like.
Day 148: Making It Better
We need or should constantly review what is working and what is not. If successful, we can attempt to correct what is not working (or quit altogether), and do more of what is working.
If we consciously do that every week, how much better would be as person, community and as a human race?
This book was published in 1997. The rule may even be more essential now since the social media is designed to keep you on as long as possible. The best way to do that is just to feed you stuff that you already agree with. In my #experience, there isn't much #growth in the #echo #chamber. That's just me tho, #live your own #life #bookstagram #message #mondaymotivation #professorsaidso #thebethea #TheTruth https://www.instagram.com/p/Bx-MMGfgIHZ/?igshid=dtx3zf0akt2j
Reposted from @raydalio - Most people make bad decisions because they are so certain that they’re right that they don’t allow themselves to see the better alternatives that exist. Radically open-minded people know that coming up with the right questions and asking other smart people what they think is as important as having all the answers. They understand that you can’t make a great decision without swimming for a while in a state of “not knowing.” That is because what exists within the area of “not knowing” is so much greater and more exciting than anything any one of us knows. - #regrann https://www.instagram.com/p/Bx-KiEhACcK/?igshid=1e5fl70v0mdc0
Thoughts On Failure
1. Fail fast.
2. Fail often.
3. Fail mindfully.
4. Talk about it.
5. Write about it.
In the USA we don't talk about failure enough. Most things we try, we are going to fail at it. I don't know if it exists or not, but there needs to be an academic journal of all the great research that actually failed. How many bad ideas, experiments, etc. are repeated because no one said..."nah...we tried it...it didn't work." How much time can be saved? How much progress can be made?
Thoughts on New Jersey Transit: #2
Staying in the moment is difficult, at least for me. I am thinking about what happened, or what should or might happen, more than I am focusing on what actually is happening. Hopefully more meditation will correct that.

Time is our most valuable asset. I know for a fact I waste much of it. How does one go about changing that? How does one determine what is or is not worth one's time? Surely a life consumed with pursuing pleasure over meaningful work is not the ideal situation, or is it?
Much of what I do with my time is greatly influenced by ideas that I did not think fully about and/or I made the decisions without a clear understanding of how much time a decision that I was made would consume. I don't have the answers, but good questions are a great start
