OH MY GOD, THEY LIVE
Hi hello good time zone to anyone still paying attention, I AM BACK. The end of 2025 was a blur of chaotic nonsense so I kinda disappeared from here for quite some time. BUT NEVER FEAR!!! The Black Parade has woken up and SO HAVE I. Gimme a day or two to remember where I left off and I will resume my regularly scheduled ramblings about how Actually This Is One Giant Science Experiment I Swear and helping out with Zero's LLTBP Megadoc. We are, as they say, SO BACK!!!
Vessel Chillin
this was filmed april 4th 2025
i'm pretty sure i've said this about vessel at some point

i don't think any of you understand how predatory of a contract MCR has with warner. they were literally the blueprint for warner's trial of "we own you and everything you do" 360 contracts.
they saw this tiny band that was getting hype, noticed that they were all broke and starving, and whipped out the world's most fucked up contract in their faces. your creativity in exchange for like, fucking medical and a salary. you forget that they're all disabled (apart from ray afaik)... they were also poor, borderline homeless new jersey punks. of course they signed. anybody would.
the fans have no idea how much warner is to blame for these ticket prices, not just ticketmaster. this isn't the band being greedy. they're not greedy people. their normal clothes (which are repeated almost every show) are falling apart on b stage, they play budget brand guitars, they don't go on bougie vacations or show off luxury goods on social media, they go to museums and parks. they even fly on public planes instead of a private jet. gerard has netflix/dark horse money, yeah, but they only really seem to spend it on books, art supplies, decent luggage, and a few nicer wardrobe items they repeatedly use until they wear out. so it cannot be THAT profitable for the band.
they wanted ticket prices to reflect what you get out of the show, but i doubt they want what is happening right now. especially when, pre surge pricing kicking in, decent seats were affordable. i can prove it! i got my tickets for hella cheap comparative to most, because i was ridiculously early in the queue. ticketmaster and warner are just money hungry scumbags.
It gets even worse for bands signed on imprint labels, which are usually presented as “no really look at us we are Small Indie Label With Money” when in reality they’re just offshoots of the big names and end up ignoring anyone on their roster that they can’t eventually funnel into the big parent label. That’s a slightly different conversation though.
In the era where streaming is how most people consume music, almost any and all profit essentially has to come from touring revenue, and there’s a lot of complicated math that goes on behind the scenes for most tours to even be able to break even. The Long Live tour is a MASSIVE undertaking with a huge crew and a ton of moving set pieces and special effects so that’s gonna already cost a fortune, and as much as this band is Warner’s golden child, there’s also going to eventually be a limit as to how much financial support they’re willing to lend to a tour like this before they’re going to expect things like ticket and merch sales to fill in the rest of the expense report and push the tour into the green. I don’t know what artist cuts from tours like this look like, I’m more used to mid-size touring bands, but I do know that for bigger/TM-controlled venues the artist usually sees 50% or less of revenue from ticket sales, and we don’t know how much of their own money they’ve dumped into this, so there’s a very real chance that this band isn’t actually seeing a huge turn of profits off of ticket sales.
My guess as to what happened this time is that they saw how instantaneously the first leg sold out and assumed they could fiddle with ticket prices a bit to squeeze out a bit more profit, when in reality the instantaneous sellout of venues the first time was driven by the fear that the band was going to do one leg of this tour and then disappear again.
have not been able to hear boy division without thinking abt this tweet since i saw it. just hollering
A my chemical romance concert functioning more like audience participation screenings than a rock concert makes wayyyyy more sense tbh. "When are they going to release NEW music" bitch you are at Rocky Horror Picture Show With A Mosh Pit
This is 100% true
Tumblr being the "piss on the poor" reading comprehension site makes sense when you realize that 79% of adults in the US are functionally illiterate. Same goes for Twitter and TikTok.
that's a real high number, sport. where'd you get it?
hey anon
please tell me you didn't google "US literacy rates" and then make the funniest possible mistake one could make in that situation
