One of my biggest pet peeves is people talking about species which are invasive in some parts of the world like the animal themselves are intrinsically bad. Domestic cats are invasive outside of a domestic setting, but we don't talk about them like they're evil and undeserving of any sympathy. Sometimes people take offense to domesticated cats being called invasive, despite their invasiveness being objective fact. It should not be viewed as an insult or as a suggestion that the actual species is bad. I absolutely adore cats myself! They're amongst my favourite animals.

It is important to be aware that a species is invasive where you are and to do your due diligence where applicable; however, it's also important to remember that it isn't the species themselves that are bad---it's the circumstances that suck. That particular species didn't choose to live in an environment which is ill-equipped to handle the unique pressure that they put on that particular environment. More often than not, it's rather the fault of humans, either directly or indirectly, that they are now present where they don't belong.

On a related note, please don't state that a species is invasive without specifying where they are invasive. To give spotted lantern flies as an example, they are native to parts of China and Vietnam, but I see a lot of especially North Americans simply calling them invasive without specifying that they are specifically referring to the USA. Being too vague might lead to some people killing them within their native range, and it is at best confusingly vague and inconvenient. I know that a lot of users here are from the USA, but it should never be assumed that every user reading is from the USA, or that they necessarily know that your PSA is US-specific.

I was thinking that I feel the most drawn towards and endeared by characters who I find myself relating to the most so in a roundabout way, I guess that I love myself.

I struggle with self-loathing, so in a way, I suppose that it helps by adding some perspective. Why am I enamored by those exact traits in somebody else (fictional or otherwise), but not in myself?
