I feel like a lot of people kinda forgot that The Boys was a dark comedy at the end of the day.

A lot of fucked up shit was going to be played for laughs, to good or poor effect, depending on the person.

So when Kimiko is able to speak, of course she’s talking in gooner-brained internet lingo. When Homelander dies, of course he’s offering to suck Butcher’s dick.

Because it’s funny

Like, there’s dramatic moments, for sure, but it’s not a drama.

I CANNOT be the only one fucking cheering and clapping over Homelander’s death. I refuse to believe so many Boys fans felt bad for Homerlander or thought he “deserved better”—he deserved WORSE. He died in the best way possible; by the man he helped create into a monster, pleading like a fucking baby on live national tv after proclaiming himself God, completely powerless. That was karma and he deserved it. His past traumas do not excuse the person he became or the things he did.

I just found out that there were people who were upset about Homelander going out groveling on his knees like a pussy. And quite a few of those people aren’t alt-right dude-bros

Y’all…he was a mass-murdering, SA-ing, bigoted, wanna-be despot with a god complex, who was in love with a Nazi. He did not deserve any dignified ending.

But so many people are like “but his childhood was sad.”

And I realize now that I could probably shoot a man dead and if I said “but I stubbed my toe yesterday🥺🥺🥺” way too many people would just start coddling me for it.

The concept of introducing a character who’s supposed to be an equal to homelander and setting up their eventual conflict with 2 seasons of a spin-off only to send her to fucking Canada.. genuinely impressed with how dogshit the writing was here.

Mark’s relationship with Amber was way more interesting than his relationship with Eve.

The problem with a character like Azula and the question of whether or not she deserves a redemption arc is that ‘yes’ and ‘no’ are both valid answers depending on the context

Does she need one within the atla story(i. e. seasons 1-3): No, because the redemption arc being focused on is Zuko’s and she’s meant to be a contrast to him

Does she need one in the greater atla timeline(i. e. The gap between atla and lok): I mean, it would be kind of harsh if she didn’t get one. Like if she just rotted away in a prison from the age of 14 that would be kind of messed up

I think it makes sense that people compare Percy Jackson and Jason Grace because Jason was introduced to the narrative in a way that specifically sets him up as a foil to Percy. However, I don’t think that it’s a fair comparison because Jason is given so much less to work with than Percy.(I also want to say that all of this is coming from someone who has Jason as his favorite Riordanverse character)

I mean, it does mostly boil down to the fact that Percy had 5 books that focused solely on him before Jason was even introduced, but I think there is a little bit more to it

Jason is introduced as pretty much the Roman equivalent of Percy, that’s why Hera chose those two in particular to swap because they’re supposed to be, on some level, even in that sense. However, Percy is firmly Greek. He spends the majority of ‘Son of Neptune’ being mistrusted by the Romans because of how Greek he is. Jason, on the other hand, his whole arc through Heroes of Olympus is him questioning whether or not he’s Greek or Roman(I might go into detail as to why I don’t like this arc for him in another post), and when you have your “Roman Percy Jackson” questioning whether or not he even wants to be Roman, it’s not really comparable to Percy “Gung-Ho Greek-O” Jackson.

Percy and Jason are also supposed to be of a similar, if not the same, power level, but that’s hardly ever showcased. A lot of people forget that when they did fight, Jason also almost killed Percy, straight up almost stabbed him in the face I think, but that “I don’t need and ocean” line was badass enough to where most people just kind of ignore that(which is fair). But beyond that Percy is portrayed as a lot more powerful than Jason. This is mostly because, like I said, Percy had a 5 book head start on Jason for feats, but Jason spends way too much of HoO getting incapacitated in some way. I think it’s because A) Rick realized the fans didn’t like Jason all that much and B) Rick realized that if he were to write Jason to be on the same level of power as Percy, his power set would make him without question the most useful member of the Seven. But that just meant that Jason ended up being written like a bitch for most of his page time. This isn’t to say that Jason has no feats, he has very impressive ones, he’s just not written in a way that makes the audience think he could take Percy in a real fight(even though I think he could)

Not to mention the fact that Percy straight up took Jason’s position at Camp Jupiter within weeks of getting there(I’m pretty sure it was a move of desperation to stop Octavian from getting the Praetorship, but still).

My boy Jason just kept getting dunked on the whole entire time and it sucks
