I'm Ellie—Eldritch is long for Ellie. I was born in 1991, so I'm over 30. I identify as nonbinary and go by she or they pronouns with no preference between the two. I'm a panromantic asexual, and I'm married to another panromantic asexual*. I'm debilitatingly chronically ill, so I'm a full-time wheelchair user. I'm neurodivergent (evidenced by the paragraphs instead of bullet points, I guess). I'm white, German-Irish-American. Think that's all you need to know about me specifically.
I don't intend to have much non-fandom** stuff on this Tumblr, I will not be reblogging many political posts or anything similar, so here's where I stand:
• Pro-LGBTQIA+, Anti-TERF
• Pro-Black Lives Matter, Stop Asian Hate, Land Back, Criminal Justice Reform, etc.
• Pro-Choice, as in I don't have a right to tell you what to do with your body but also as in separation of Church and State
• Pro-Anything that'll make people's lives better, like vaccination, independence, societal reforms, bodily autonomy, etc.
• Pro-Conservation, climate change mitigation, etc.
• Pro-Rematriation/repatriation of land, museum holdings, etc.
If it's inconsequential, I probably don't have an opinion on it, and actively strive to not get overwhelmed with having opinions on things that don't matter or that which I have no influence on***. Even if it's something important that's not listed above (although I did try to cover the bases), I probably will not be talking about it on this Tumblr.

I have a daily post thing I do in October with my wife called BattyCake Halloween that uses that tag, and also the same but with the current year for archive purposes. My personal liveblogging and rambling about Emmerdale uses #the bat watches emmerdale, even when it's just rambles about the characters or brainrot or whatever in order to keep it all organized. To specifically find liveblogs for pre-2020s Robron the tag is #watches classic robrondale more like, and pre Robert coming back in 2014 is #watches classic aarondale more like. My tag for music that triggers the Robron brainrot is #the bat's mental robron amv/edit playlist (whenever a song is particularly eating at me I post it there). Posts about movies I'm watching with my wife use #the bats go to the (home) cinema. I try to tag all fandom things with their respective tags, and I also try to tag individual characters if that's a thing for that specific fandom. If there's a known trigger or content warning that I think is important, I try to do those, but if you need anything tagged and it's a reasonable request, just send me a message.

I've just seen some trailer shit for the new Fable and just... THAT'S NOT FABLE! THAT'S JUST SOME PEOPLE! It's too fucking smooth! It's too smooth! It's uncanny, and not in a good way! It's all mocap shit, which has its place, but Fable isn't one of them. The people don't fucking match the setting anymore! I don't...
And the setting itself! It used to have heart! It used to feel like its own distinct thing, and now it's just like every other fucking grimdark fantasy game. And obviously there's always been darkness to Fable, both storywise and composition but like... I dunno. That did not feel like Fable whatsoever. Maybe that trailer specifically was just bad. Maybe they're not actually doing the game justice for what it's gonna be like.
But still though, just the people looking Like That is too much for me. Why is Hayley Atwell looking at me in a Fable game? It's literally just her face. I don't want actors visually in most of my games, I want fucking unique FUCKING CHARACTERS! Her voice would be enough! I don't need her fucking face, too! Same goes for Richard Ayoade (I adore the man, but come on)! Distinct fucking voicework! I do not need to see him in fucking Albion! And I don't want the player character to look like someone either! That's supposed to be a random ass person!!! I don't understand the necessity for this shit, I really, really don't.

Marriage: Traumatizing my wife with my favorite WWII shit! You know, it says a lot about my childhood that things like Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers, both of which she's now watched, were comforting to me (still are, actually).
I really, really enjoyed seeing Saving Private Ryan again. It's a genuinely good movie, everyone's acting is phenomenal, and the effects are absolutely mind-boggling. They hold up spectacularly well! It's amazing how things that are done practically are good decades later (that's sarcasm, everyone knows practical is almost always better). I hate to think how all the CG shit they're making now is gonna look in that same amount of time (it's not even like it looks all that great now as it is!).
You're allowed to be grateful that it wasn't worse than it was, but you're also allowed to fully acknowledge that what happened was absolute shit and never should have happened at all to begin with. Don't let the former negate the latter 💜
2AM on Gravehaven. Too bad the stars aren't out, but at least it's still peaceful.
It was an exceptionally frightening and infuriating afternoon, so since Baggs wants to be sacked out in the living room once everyone else has gone to bed instead of letting us also go to bed, I spent like an hour listening to Chopin and then decided to do some Animal Crossing instead of watching anything. (I may or may not have also spent the time very quietly singing O Death in different tempos...)
I'm very, very tired of other people's bullshit, Gandalf. We've been dealing with this specific level of bullshit for...at least 2 years, and there's no positive end in sight, so it just makes each recurrence that much more infuriating. Oh well. So it goes.
