thinking about diatoms again
microscopic living stars made of glass that eat the sun. and they're all around us. in every body of water. glass sun-eating stars.
I like them a lot. they produce up to half of all earth's oxygen. the air you breathe is thanks to sun-eating stars made of glass. and that's pretty cool.
and you know. like oblongs and triangles and some other bullshit
Yes because no one is scared of trans women perusing social or medical transition. This is ridiculous to even say when people are out here calling egg jokes grooming.
you gotta just completely ignore trans women at every level to produce ânobody is afraid of trans women transitioningâ as a take. just a comical level of transmisogyny
Boobs are the stupidest organ imaginable. Imagine if you had a house and one day it starts getting an addition with a bunch of extra pipework and insulation. You ask what it's for and it's in case of one specific thing that less than half the population actually does. And when that use case DOES happen it's only for like a year and a half max
You can't opt out, people judge your house based on this addition, some people love theirs, some people hate theirs, some people pay for extra renovations to make theirs as big as possible, some people really don't care until they realize that maybe they CAN have a choice about it, you really just want all this STUPID INSULATION AND STUPID UNUSED PIPES out of your damn house but if you say that around people who like their additions they look at you like you just murdered a puppy
actually as a woman I still think misandry makes you an unpleasant person and if youâre just out there saying shit like âall men should dieâ or âmenâs mental health doesnât matterâ then youâre the type of person I want nothing to do with. also this is not what feminism is about btw, youâre not being a strong girl boss with this ideology, youâre just a bully
remember:
-the idea that women are less capable of abuse than men is an extension of the idea that women are weaker than men.
-the refusal to acknowledge men's mental health and emotions as valid things worthy of support comes from the idea that emotions are inherently feminine in nature and having them is, again, a sign of weakness.
-the treatment of men as generic and expendable and women as special contributes to the idea that women should have less representation because we already "have enough" and "don't need more" and we gotta "even the playing field" or some dumb shit, so any need or want for more attention, regardless of reason, is attributed to "pointless attention-seeking".
-all of this puts trans men in an even more uncomfortable position, because either they're made an exception (because they ~aren't really men~ you see) or they're viewed as self-hating misogynists because why else would you "choose" to be the Trash Gender (tm)?
all of these seemingly pro-women anti-men sentiments stem from beliefs produced and enforced by toxic masculinity; as such, misandry is often really just misogyny in disguise.
adding more onto this:
-the idea that men are inherently terrible only serves to excuse men for being terrible. because, hey, they can't help it, so why bother trying, right? part of holding men accountable for their awful actions is believing they can in fact be better.
-the reason "not all men" is so frustrating to hear is because it's often used in poor faith to derail much needed conversations about toxic masculinity and how it manifests, not because the phrase itself is untrue.
-continuing from the trans men thing, misandry can and does make it harder for trans men to come out, for fear of the aforementioned responses.
-yes, misandry can stem from trauma at the hands of a man. that's understandable, but trauma can reinforce a lot of prejudices, and we all have a responsibility to understand how we come to believe things and mind ourselves accordingly. that doesn't mean you need to hang around men all the time, nor does it mean you're wrong to feel the way you do about what men did to you - it just means recognizing the objective line between fact and feelings, and recognizing that you don't need to conflate the two to validate your feelings. "i am uncomfortable around men because of past experiences shared by a lot of women" is different from "men are all horrible irredeemable pieces of shit and need to die".
a strange phenomenon has occurred where i watched a video essay about project hail mary (i can't find it but it was about how andy weir has said he doesn't put any messaging into his works and how that's bullshit non-political art doesn't exist) and a part of it talked about the headcanon that grace is aro ace and just the general themes of human connection and since then my heart just hasn't been in it whenever i see bloodymary stuff. i'm kinda sad bc i loved them but now i feel like i have a greater appreciation for the themes of the movie that is about human connection and that just because grace didn't connect with people the way society wants him to doesnt mean he has less worth. he is so likeable and kind and makes connections everywhere he goes but because they usually arent conventional they're written off. he was someone who preserved his inner child surrounded by people who murdered theirs, someone very aroace coded in a society that prizes sex and romance above most other things. idk idk for some reason bloodymary has lost the spark which saddens me bc noooo my space yaoi but also i just want grace to be happy and fulfilled with his platonic soulmate rocky :( T-T

The fascinating thing about the word âniggaâ vis-Ă -vis nonblack ppl that use it and/or want to use it without consequences, is that the majority of them would sooner eat glass than spend one day being considered and/or being treated as a Black person.
If youâre nonblack you can reblog this BUT âđż donât act up

the idea that being nonbinary can be a stepping stone to "fully identifying as (male/female)" can coexist with the fact that for some people identifying as binary male or female is, in fact, the stepping stone to a fully realized non-binary identity and life.
when i came out as trans i originally began labelling myself "nonbinary" because it felt like a way to soft-launch my coming out with my generally accepting peers.
when i started transitioning more outwardly i then came to label myself a trans woman. i thought that being trans-female or transfeminine was what i was meant to be and it seemed fine enough to me to go with it.
then, over the years of experiencing and experimenting with my gender presentation and expressions i came to grow into my full and wholly nonbinary identity as a transfeminine butch.
never fully woman, not even necessarily "woman-adjacent" but always in relation to my past experiences with womanhood and the societal expectations that cling to it.
i am nonbinary. my experiences with womanhood are kaleidoscopic and do not invalidate my existence as a nonbinary butch but they are my experiences and in turn also do not invalidate another person's apparently inverse experience.
someone else's experience might be the inverse and thats equally valid, some people's questioning of the binary leads them to come to affirmation of their binary womanhood or manhood and thats also beautiful.
womanhood and manhood don't need to be rigid, toxic or emprisoning, they themselves can be diverse and wonderful universes to inhabit.
Apparently some people still need to hear this so: using an 'ai checker' is still using ai. If you are feeding someone's fic to one of these checkers, you will still not be sure their fic is ai because they are not 100% accurate, but you can be 100% sure that you are using ai. For fic. Furthermore you are doing the work of an ai scraper for them. You are, personally, feeding the machine. There is no actual excuse for using an ai checker on fanfic as a hobby. YOU are the problem.
If you think a fic is ai, mute it and move on. That's it. That's all you do.
Um. Yikes

This comic is born of me noticing we tend to make Adrien extremely smooth (aka shiny aka light) and colorful (aka light) to signal they're bad as hell (said in Rocky's voice) which is something Eridians categorically do not see.
