I just survived another semester where I had to co-write the prologue of a visual novel (which I can't even guarantee will ever see the light of day haha, I'm still recovering). Thus, it wasn't until a couple days ago that I started writing for fun again.
i found this AMAZING giant/tiny bloodymary fanfiction on AO3 written by @smallification, and i love it so much!
the fic is In the Light (Still Below) by rockification
brief summary: Simon is tiny, and Grace and Rocky find the little SM-13 floating in space. Grace is a giant, and naturally, Simon is terrified (lots of great moments! please, check it out!)
i was inspired to make art of it!

this is the final version, where i re-read the fic and triple-checked everything - from the controls of the rover to simon's number of arms - for the sake of being more accurate!

aaand here's the back of simon's head. just because
when making the first draft, i originally drew simon with his arm and then made this whole joke about having to chop it off again, so i redrew him without the arm - but TURNS OUT, i had to glue that sucker back on! i got my continuity mixed up
look: i even kept the arm! (i was too attached. unlike simon)
One of my favorite aspects of g/t is the gentle testing of boundaries between the two. Especially if there is a communication barrier involved, and the giant can’t explicitly ask for consent or explain what they are doing.
The giant gently trying to test how much their tiny is okay with, while trying not to scare them in the process:
• Gently caressing their shoulder with a single finger
• Playfully poking them on their chest
• Cupping their fingers around them without fully touching
• Slowly scopping them up and lifting them closer
The whole time the giant is looking for any miniscule sign to indicate whether or not the tiny is okay with this. Waiting to see if they should stop immediately, or are good to keep going. Backing off the moment they hear a tiny whimper or yelp, or gently pushing further as they recieve no signs of protest.
Meanwhile the tiny is wracked with nerves - all they can do in this situation is hope that this giant is trustworthy, and will actually stop if they express their discomfort. They have no power to actually stop the giant if they want to pick them up, hold them, pet them, do anything they want to them. They can only hope that their boundaries will be respected.
Finally finished the first chapter of my first g/t fic! It’s currently sitting at ~2,500 words and I am debating posting it soon, or waiting til I have more chapters backlogged 😅 Any suggestions from readers and writers alike are welcome because I am indecisive 🙏
Actually just realized that most of the chapters I have planned align well with Valcove’s G/T July prompt list soooo I may try to post chapters alongside that

very inspired by the wonderful fic The Astrobiology Immersion Program by @startingatmidnight, highly recommend. I mostly just wanted to draw rocky in grace's body figuring out how a face works, which was extremely fun to do
Anyway this is the creature that inspires a good chunk of my wholesome g/t thoughts simply because she is small and adorable and I would die for her ❤️ Also her name is Callie, everyone say hi 😌
Giants who absolutely adore their tinies - staring at them without even realizing because they are so transfixed by how incredible they are, lost in thought as they admire them
The tiny noticing the giant staring at them, maybe they are unnerved by the amount of attention, or maybe they have grown used to this unusual behavior by now. Asking what their giant friend is up to, and the giant is reduced to a blushing and stuttering mess as they realize they’ve been caught in their admiration ❤️
G/t couple in couple’s counseling to address the issue of cuteness aggression
Tiny: “The other day they snatched me off of the table without any warning and proceeed to suffocate me against their chest - It didn’t hurt but a warning would have been nice”
Giant: “I really struggle to contain my emotions when they are doing something adorable! They shouldn’t act so cute if they don’t want me to cuddle them”
Tiny: “I WAS LITERALLY JUST SITTING THERE EATING A CHIP”

Polycule but it’s just two people in a romantic relationship with each other and their third who’s pretty obviously aroace but also somehow so deeply intertwined in their lives that it’d just be wrong to not count them as involved. Is this anything.

Bugs that I Would Have as A Pet if I Were A Borrower
(Tw for Arachnophobia, Insects and Bugs in general)
Roly-Poly / Pill-bug
Starting off strong, we have the adorable little roly-poly / Pill-bug. I saw that scene from Secret world of Arrietty as a child and immediately decided that I needed a pill bug the size of my abdomen for peak cuddles. They are adorable and seems like they would be very laid back as pets for a borrower!
Millipede
Look at them!!! They would be so chill to have curl around you! My heart says that they are essentially the borrower equivalent as a Dachsund and I would gladly befriend one if I was 5 inches tall. 10/10 no notes!
Madagascar-Hissing Cockroach
These guys seem like they would be very chill and docile pets - fairky large, but easy-going and not many thoughts going on inside that head. No thoughts, head empty, may be nice to drape over yourself like a weighted blanket and allow their soothing hisses to lull you to sleep (jk, ideally they wouldn’t be hissing at you because they are well cared for and loved)
Giant African Snail
Neither a bug nor an arthropod but felt right to include since they otfen get lumped in with them. My heart feels that they are the equivalamt having a pet cow - large, friendly fellow that may be nice to hug if you are okay with getting a but of mucin on you. I’m gonna craft a saddle for them and ride that bad boy into the sunset 🏇 (We will reach the kitchen in 3 business days)
Jumping-Spider
A classic pet for a borrower! Friendly, intelligent, and will help keep the flies out of your food storage! Most loyal companion a borrower could ask for! I feel that they would be nice to have curl up on your lap like a cat at the end of a long day. Shout out to Buggy from ILoveGt - love that little spider dude! Definitely could train this guy to play fetch.

Praying Mantis
Majestic creatures but that would not end well for me. Shout out to Thistle from Not-a-space-alien’s “Watch Your Step” - he would probably despise the fact I want one of these as a pet, but that is a risk i’m willing to take 🫡
Tarantula / Pinktoe Tarantula
I can’t say for certain that it would end poorly, as I am unaware of how pinktoe tarantulas behave around small mammals, or if they could some how be trained not to attack small mammals…. But I don’t think my chances of survival would be high and I will die trying to cuddle them 🙂↕️
