I don't have much in the way of actual excerpts, this past week has been dedicated to finishing my Marcurio and Ko'zajjat drawings. I do, however, have a loose list of fic ideas I've made for part of my new Skyrim verse. It is very much subject to change; I'll most likely add more later on, the chronological order of some of them may change, and most of them only have placeholder titles if any at all. Most of them aren't even drafts yet.
That being said, enjoy the weird ass titles and vague concepts. Please, if there's any that intrigue you that you'd like to know more about, I'll gladly provide a brief summary.
Tagging: whoever is reading that wants to. I don't know many people and don't know how many have been tagged already 😞
“Yes Mother, I know. I’m working on it, these things take time... Well I’m not like Ungolim- ok, alright, I’ll do it on Morndas. Love you, bye
Lucien let out a long groan of exhaustion once the call was finally over. He tossed the phone onto an already cluttered coffee table in front of him, then slumped back into his armchair.
Staring up at the dimly lit ceiling he took a moment to process another scolding from his mother, about how his career as an MC is ridiculous. That he needs a ‘proper job’ or how he should ‘be more like Ungolim.’
Despite being belittled and compared to his brother throughout the whole call at least she took the effort to ring him for a change. Most of the time she’d simply pass the messages through her ‘precious little Ungolim.’
Leaning forward again he scrambled amongst the clutter on his table to find his rolling tin and lighter.
“It could have been worse, it could have been Father who called,” he thought to himself, an attempt at trying to make light of the situation.
He dreaded Fathers calls, Lucien had come to the conclusion that man had a void where his heart should be.
He finished rolling his cigarette and took a second to admire his handywork, before slipping it behind his ear. “Well, I had better stop moping around and go enjoy my Fredas night.” He relished the thought of the weekend being here.
With that he slang himself from the chair, scuffling amongst the table again grabbing his phone and the keys to Shadow Motor, his beloved car. He stuffed them both into his sling bag and headed out the door.
apologies to anyone who ever thought i was cool and reached out to me only to discover i am just a weird little hermit who can't carry on a conversation to save my life
It was always meant to be a matter of convenience. Seeking another set of competent hands to resolve an imminent threat to Ahkari's caravan, Kharjo hires Marcurio in Ko'zajjat's stead upon their first foray into Skyrim's cities - Riften. Kharjo also hopes that this man, being a fellow mage and equipped with the propensity for unrestrained chatter, might coax Ko'zajjat into being more open to companionship where Kharjo has thus far been unable to.
They do indeed hit it off swimmingly.
In fact, they grow closer than anyone might have expected - and far closer than either wanted, or are capable of admitting...
... Kharjo's just happy they're getting along.
Two of the six-member adventuring party for the Skyrim fics I'm currently planning! Headcanons + OC info under the cut
Marcurio
Born and raised in Cyrodiil. Was a student at the Arcane University and a member of the Synod. Whatever brought him to Skyrim is a story he keeps close to his chest. At most he will say he arrived for a chance at Nordic and Dwemer field study.
He enchanted the earrings he wears to give him keener hearing and a sense of residual magicka in a given area. It helps with his mercenary work, and the latter especially lends to his scholarly curiosity.
Marcurio is bar none the most refined cook of the group. Kharjo or Erik will often goad him into making some lavish dinner when the party stops at a city after a long journey. Faendal is just a little more adept at making survivalist-minded food that can persist on the road.
As is customary in Cyrodiilic society (and based on the significance of aromatics in ancient Roman society), Marcurio uses fragrances a lot. Seeking some out and quality-checking them is one of his pastimes while in a city. This and some of his other behavior suggests he comes from upper-class Cyrodiil.
His surname is Allectus. Descendent of these random people.
Despite his constant complaints, and desire for the finer things in life, Marcurio grows to undeniably enjoy adventure - the freedom, the adrenaline, the potential of grand discovery.
Ko'zajjat
Conjurer and healer, taking the role of support in combat. Being born under the Atronach, she has a bloated magicka pool and some magic absorption in trade for slow regeneration, forcing her to be tactful with the choice and timing of her spells.
Ko'zajjat is a suthay-raht. She stands at 6'8 - this exceptional height as well as her affinity for magic is owed to her by altmer paternity.
She was born in Elsweyr, and spent some time in Cyrodiil. She does not divulge details of her past.
Before Kharjo wormed his way into her life, Ko'zajjat spent years wandering the snowy wilds of northern Skyrim. She has been titled the "Sabre Witch of the Wastes" by those who encountered her.
She's a worshipper of Azurah and Khenarthi, and lets this inform much of her outlook and decisions. She prays outside twice a day at dawn and dusk.
Often described as aloof, stoic, and frustratingly neutral, Ko'zajjat actively maintains an emotional wall to avoid human connection and investing herself in interpersonal matters. The rest of the group often take the helm of adventurers, and she herself would understate her importance in her companions' lives. She will be challenged by unbidden bonds and be questioned on if she's really content with being a ghost within her own narrative; eventually she'll have to make a choice on what path she wants to take before the group falls apart.
Marcurio & Ko'zajjat
When Marcurio and Ko'zajjat first met, they scarcely engaged. Marcurio at first believed Ko'zajjat did not know Tamrielic, given she insisted on using exclusively Ta'agra with Kharjo. Imagine his surprise when she fires back a response after he's made one too many snarky remarks.
They actively bicker with each other. Marcurio is the only one of their group who seems to be able to engage her, or draw a reaction from her, so easily. This becomes a point of pride to him.
They also engage in little tests of magic with each other - how acutely they can control a flame or frosts, how quickly they can magically pop open a lock... Marcurio enjoys having a fellow mage around, and one who seems truly interested in magic nonetheless. Ko'zajjat secretly enjoys it too. Later on, they begin to study and collaborate on magical projects together.
They make a remarkable unit in combat, even when it's only the world of them. What skill one might lack more in a specific school, the other can make up for it.
Ko'zajjat often calls Marcurio rishajiit - wizard in Ta'agra. It's become a nickname at this point.
At some point, they enter a friends-with-benefits relationship because they're both lonely and seeking connection that they both deny themselves they're horny and alone together during a blizzard I guess. The others in the group don't know of this arrangement.
Somewhere down the line, it begins develop into something beyond the boundaries they'd originally set. Oops! Who would've guessed? They dance around these complications until it turns into a situationship with an end that's yet to look clear or clean.
