To the Grand Line!!!
they served so hard in opla 💅
my diable jambe temperature take on sanji — the extreme emphasis fandom places on his vinsmoke background (which is absolutely an important part of his character that should be examined, don’t get me wrong, but i’m talking about the way it sometimes eclipses everything else in his life in fanon) sands down his complexities and creates a less interesting version of him. “character with shitty bio family” can be found all over media. “character with shitty bio family, starvation trauma, and complex relationship with masculinity and aggression nurtured by his foster dad” is its own thing. plus this contributes to fanon sanji often being seen as this refined, delicate “princely” figure when he is canonically a rude fucking bastard (which is what i love about him.) he’s a pirate not a prince for gods sake.
Yeah I agree 🤔 I absolutely love his second backstory, and I think that it compounds onto everything else we already knew about him really well, but the other parts can’t be ignored. Perhaps my favorite part about Sanji is how contradictory he is. He dresses nicely and carefully combs his hair, but he can and will kick your teeth in. He’s the kindest person you’ll ever meet, but he’s a brat and a rude mf who will serve you dinner while insulting you. He was something of a prince, but he is wholly a pirate. He’s nuanced.

Igaram, your unwavering loyalty to your homeland will never be forgotten. But more than that, you were my support. You always believed in me, even when I doubted myself. You were like a second father to me ever since I was little. And as I traveled far from home, far from my own father, you felt like home. So I thank you. Not just for your service, but for your love and your protection. I owe you my life.

how to say "I love you" in x-files [491/?] ⤷ 1.08 — “Ice”

ONE PIECE | Zoro & Usopp in Season 2
i love it and hate it when a character in a story is so obviously created to be cool and awesome and then i do think they're cool and awesome. like fuck, yeah, ok, they're fucking epic. swag as hell. you got me you coolbaited me ok? i'm coolbaited.
the x files creating so many timeless romantic tropes such as ‘examining each other for parasitic ice worms’ and ‘fungus hallucinations’ and ‘shooting him’ and ‘ditching her to find ufos in Antarctica’ and ‘nearly driven to murder-suicide by Christmas ghosts’ etc. etc.
I love this scene, the implied question is "Why do I cling to this if I'm too afraid to believe in it" and the implied answer is "Because I want to believe." That's it, that's the whole show, it's the reason she was drawn to Mulder and his unwavering faith in the unbelievable in the first place. It reminds her of something she lost, or at the very least has been too scared to face. There's so many layers to this one statement because it means something slightly different to each character. For Scully it's wanting (but fearing) to reclaim a sense of faith when everything she's put her trust in can't give her the answers or the solutions she wants to find. In a way I think it requires her making peace with a lack of answers or a lack of immediate answers or a lack of total clarity on the truth (even if it does exist). That's something both she and Mulder struggle with even if their arrival at that dilemma comes from different directions. Also I think there's something to be said here about the desire to believe or to maintain hope sufficing in life's worst moments. Most people aren't taught that - there's this very black and white mentality that you either have hope and/or faith or you don't - but I don't believe that's true. I think that if the wanting is all you have left, then that in itself is enough
