There’s a company that makes disgusting little communion wafers out of garbanzo beans. The Catholic Church does not officially recognize it as the body of Christ because there’s no wheat.

Way back in the ancient days of 2007 when I was diagnosed and they required all celiac kids go to hospital counseling groups for the weird rare disease we had (lmfao how things change), part of the intro meeting was covering communion because it was such a huge deal. The counseling dietician was trying soooo hard to be “sensitive” to the Catholics but was trying to stress that Catholic wheat is still wheat and so will make your kid sick.

On a side note, an acquaintance from high school thinks God cured her celiac disease when she bore her first son because she’d fulfilled her purpose as a Mormon. Religion is really harmful for the brain.
