And then Shen Yuan dies to his illness and leaves Luo Binghe his inheritance and apartment. Luo Binghe has a horrible time after that. He is grateful beyond belief but so utterly broken after SY's death.
He doesn't need to work anymore, he wouldn't have continued doing that job even if he didn't have the inheritance. His gentle treatment is reserved for only one man, and that man is now dead.
He falls into unhealthy habits, he isn't taking care of himself as well, it spirals so bad to the point he is so tired one day, he doesn't see the car coming and suddenly-
Until he wakes up. They wake up in PIDW. Shen Yuan as a scratched out friend character that never made it into the final draft, and Luo Binghe - as the protagonist.
Luo Binghe recognizes the world. He doesn't recognize his character though. Shen Yuan had mentioned his favorite book to hate before, but he didn't go as much into it because it was making him too frustrated and his doctor recommended he gives himself a break from that.
Luo Binghe though, wakes up with the goal of finding Shen Yuan in this world and give it to him - the whole world. Because if he was reborn here of all places, of all people, then Shen Yuan must be as well. He couldn't conceive of anything else.
They find each other at Qing Jing peak.
Shen Yuan had lived for a couple of years in this world by now. He was initially a slave, escaped and went to Cang Qiong, eventually becoming Qing Jing's head desciple. It'll sound pathetic, but he misses his fake boyfriend made nurse. He is happy about being healthy in this life. But he misses Luo Binghe.
What he never expected though, was to find him on Qing Jing peak in the role of the protagonist.
Their reunion is so dramatic (hugs, tears, proclamations of loyalty) that even the peak lord himself notices. And, oh, doesn't it burn, to see two children, one an ex slave, another a poor peasant turned street rat, reunite so lovingly.
Two brats. Exclaiming over how they never thought they'd see the other again. How one thought the other dead. How one apologizes for not doing more. Doesn't it burn, that this was never his. Isn't it bitter, that it's so easy for these two to share why they didn't find each other earlier.
"Yuan Gege, I missed you so much! I looked for you, I promise. I'm sorry I took so long!"
Shen Qingqiu turns away. He cannot take any more of this.
LBH eventually manages to convince SY that he has no reason to pretend to be his boyfriend. He's in love with SY. That's all. SY eventually accepts and they become the most sickeningly sweet (and low-key obsessive) couple on CQ.
