Mike chuckled and took the arm she offered. “Take me to Neverland, Tink. Take me to Neverland,” he said, beaming, amused by the young woman’s remarks and also glad at the prospect of getting strong coffee.

Students would add it and then one day, it’d just disappear. Then someone gets called down to the principals office and womp, womp. But it was never me.”

“Oh, most definitely. -Had to beat some asses a few times but…all’s fair in love and war, you know?” The female turned, following the direction of his eyes and noting the drenched male currently attempting to work his way back up the ladder of the dunk tank. “I actually don’t know. I just went for it to see if I had it in me and the satisfaction is more than enough in my book.” Slender shoulders lifted in a shrug, attention turning back his way, though as she did, she reached for the second ball lying on a nearby table, holding it out towards him. “You wanna give it a go?”

Mike chuckled, nodding as the young woman spoke. He was caught off guard when she handed him the ball and his face contorted a bit as he inhaled sharply through his teeth. “Oh, I think I’m gonna make a fool of myself,” he said, although as he said it, he took the ball from her hands and pulled out a dollar to give to the guy who was manning the booth. He stepped up to the line, ball in hand, and prayed under his breath that he wasn’t going to embarrass himself. He threw the ball... and missed.

“Yikes,” he said with a wince, “That was... I’m just gonna forget that happened.”

“Ugh, you were supposed to deliver the coffee to me and then get me some Lush bath bombs, what kind of crap is this?! I need to work for my own luxuries? This is bologna,” she whined, a note of humor in her voice.

“Welcome to the real world, missy,” Mike said with a snicker. “It’s cruel, unfair, and you’re gonna love it. Besides, it’s going to be on me anyway, but you’re not getting it if you don’t come along.”

“The difference is.. my stories are interesting and yours are very, very boring – you’d think your story-telling skills would be superior seeing as you’re professor of Journalism but.. whoops,” Alex laughed, making a face to show she was only kidding. “Ok.. where do you want to go?”

“My stories are boring not because of the way I tell them but because of the content. I’m a teacher. You’re a bartender. Of course you get the more interesting stories.” He shook his head and couldn’t help but laugh. “There’s a shop just around the corner. We better hurry. I can feel I’m gonna explode anytime soon.”

“Unfortunately, I’m teaching. And I know this sounds bad coming from a teacher, but if I was the student, I’d probably just doze off,” Mike said as he walked. He heaved a sigh. “I guess I’m just caffeine-dependent now. I mean, I was in bed by 11 last night. I just... need coffee.”
