The rule could have heavy impacts towards trans people across society.
Last week, the Trump administration quietly released a sweeping new federal rule that would use funding threats to force institutions across the country to reject transgender people. The 400-page proposed regulation would codify the administration's anti-trans executive orders into binding federal policy, imposing a blanket prohibition on federal funds going toward "gender ideology"
The proposed rule, formally titled "Regulation for Federal Financial Assistance," rewrites the government-wide framework governing all federal grants across every agency. Among its most consequential provisions, it requires that before a federal grant recipient can receive money, the award must pass a "pre-issuance review" conducted by a political appointeeânot a career expert or peer reviewerâto ensure it is "consistent with applicable law, Federal agency priorities, and the national interest." The regulation explicitly instructs these appointees to screen for "denial by the recipient of the sex binary in humans or the notion that sex is a chosen or mutable characteristic." [...] An institution that acknowledges transgender people existâthrough its policies, its training, its healthcare, its bathroom access, its HR procedures, its name-change processesâcould be deemed to "deny the sex binary" or to âsupport the notion that sex is mutableâ and have its federal funding blocked.
Importantly, the gender ideology prohibition has no age limitationâhospitals could be targeted not just for providing care to minors but for providing gender-affirming care to adults, because prescribing hormone therapy to a transgender patient of any age could be deemed promoting the belief that "sex is a chosen or mutable characteristic."

RIP Marjane Satrapi, author of the amazing graphic novels Persepolis about living during the fundamentalist revolution in Iran in the 70âs and 80âs. She also created the animated movie based on the graphic novels, which is where these gifs come from.

Reblogging in honor of Marjane Satrapi, one of THE great graphic novelists. Her comic Persepolis was a crucial text for shaping my belief that comics can deeply explore identity, culture, politics, and history.
best case scenario Digital Circus gets remembered in a similar way as Steven Universe: a show that was Really Fucking Good and had nuanced characters and interesting things to say, but the audience wasn't quite ready for it and it imploded into a discourse ball. four years from now I expect to see lesbians drawing Jax like she's a renaissance muse the same way people still draw Pearl or Lapis

We write for ourselves, but we post for others.
(this came out of a conversation in the comments on a previous post about an author threatening to stop updating a fic because of lack of engagement)
So thereâs this idea that fic writers should write for themselves and not care too much about stats or engagement,
and i totally get the sentiment behind that. if writing becomes entirely about stats and external validation, something important does get lost - creative freedom and joy, conviction in your own writing
but i also think:
âi write for myself, but i post for others.â
because posting fic is not only self-expression. itâs social. ao3 is called an archive, but emotionally it often functions as a community space.
people post for connection, for participation, for others to bear witness to their pain and trauma and grief,
and i donât think most people are asking to be admired so much as acknowledged. thereâs something deeply human about wanting another person to encounter something that mattered to you and go:
âok, yeah, I see what you were trying to say. I see you.â
especially because fanfic is often people processing very real feelings through fictional characters at a safe distance, one step removed,
and then uploading that deeply personal thing into a shared archive and hoping somebody else might connect with it.
And i think thatâs why it hurts so much when you summon up the courage and post a fic into the void and you get nothing back,
and then itâs like,
does anyone see me? does anyone even care?

more people should be destroying those things in soulmate-mark aus. it feels like itâd be well-known enough as a response to getting a mark to be a taboo, but everyone would know how you could do it. burn the thing off, or scar the tissue some other way. someone whoâs very determined might go as far as, say, cutting off the finger their soulmateâs first words are written upon. anything to untether themself from fate.
it being seen as the ultimate act of selfishness, because youâre not just removing your own soulmark, but youâre denying someone else the future they were meant to have with you. too easy for this to be a story where it turns out they didnât want this either; i think it should be selfish. youâll still know the mark you bore, but no one else can ever know it and you refuse to tell them. the wedge that would drive between a person and their friends who havenât met their soulmates yet, because What If. or even better, if one of them really was their destined soulmate and they know that, but this is the relationship they want with this person, at the comfortable distance of friends, acquaintances, nearer to strangers. they chose this over tying themselves to them forever as lovers; of course itâs selfish, but it was their choice.
i think its awesome when women refuse to adhere to gendered expectations i think its so fucking cool and great
the proportions are just fine I just have a lot of hair. get real
just wanted to share the National Down Syndrome Societyâs message for this yearâs World Down Syndrome Day (21st March) đđ
Powerful message that lovingly includes multiple disabilities, united. I love this.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
"you were always such a good kid! we never had to worry about you :)" thanks! you actually should've, though. like about this specifically
whats cool about being trans is my parents are totally right. i did kill their beautiful son. im the thing that animates his corpse in an ever more convincing parody of a happy girl. i devoured him from the inside out and now there is nothing left of him and he is dead dead dead and there is only me, with my hollow eyes and dark eyeliner and long hair, and my big smile. my limp, effeminate gestures belie the marionetting of the boy they loved. my fagginess is his death. already his body becomes a fitter home for my parasitism in full; the tits, the hips, the thighs. sorry about your kid. thanks for the biomass <3
everyone loves to hate terfs until they realise that it actually entails rejecting bioessentialism entirely and then suddenly youâre âtaking things too seriouslyâ and you âdonât have a sense of humourâ like iâm sorry but saying protect the dolls doesnât make you immune to terfism it has seeped into every corner of mainstream feminism and unless youâre actively searching it out and checking your own biases you will always be at risk of sharing a space with terfs
âOnly women canââ nope. âBut all menââ nah. âThe divine femininity ofââ gonna stop you right there. âEveryone born amaââ if you finish that sentence Iâll kill you. âMen donât experienceââ youâre wrong. âGender isnât real but sex is immââ *loud incorrect buzzer*
It also goes without saying that bioessentialism inherently canât be trans inclusive no matter how hard you try. âAll men including trans menââ probably not. âThis is only a womanâs issueââ is it really? âAfabs onlyââ why? âAll trans men are likeââ what? what are they like? finish the sentence i dare you.
Fuck you I was expecting comedy and now I'm crying?!
This is beautiful.
