Hello!

Hey! I've been on tumblr since like 2012 - so i am ancient in tumblr years - and as a result my blog history is fragmented across several blogs but this is my ‘personal’ blog where the random and fun stuff goes. It’s the junkposting blog.   My age: born in 19xx. i am older than google, fuck off @twelvesblades is My primary 'side blog’ is my Final Fantasy 14 blog where I usually blog from/actively use. @maniac-fandomist is my fandom blog (there's a lot of Genshin Impact there lately), @thoughtful-archivist is my “let's learn a thing" / where I stash serious stuff blog. @nightbloominglotus is my aesthetics blog

I identify as an aggravated pufferfish or a frightened hedgehog and I play FFXIV, and Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail.  I operate on pre-internet capitalist hellscape rules as in: I am matroysha doll of aliases.

Also: we are all anonymous icons here, I do not want to know or care who you are IRL. However, if you have an empty blog, I will simply assume you are a ghost or a bot and block you like I do the porn bots. Speaking of anonymous icons, i encourage you to get a not-default icon to avoid being mistaken for a bot on sight.

the fun thing about having a mental health crashout in your thirties is that sure yeah you're crashing out, but at the same time there's a part of you standing across the room smoking ben affleck style, going yeah yeah you're crashing out. you crashed out before you will crash out again can we wrap this up yet. and the most annoying part about it is that they're right, and that that does Not stop you from crashing out even a little. love and light on planet earth.

Every once in a while I think about this guy and I think about the fact that people know him from Moonlight or Luke Cage or what have you and all I can think is "oh, that guy from Crossing Jordan."

1. Fist: Make a fist around the epi-pen, don’t place your thumb/fingers over either end

2. Flick the blue cap off

3. Fire. Press down into the outer thigh (the big muscle in there), hold for 10 seconds before removing (the orange cap will cover the needle). Bare skin is best but the epi-pen will go through clothing. Avoid pockets and seams. 

- Ring an ambulance even if everything seems to be fine!

Oh my god. So as someone who has to carry an epipen EVERYWHERE I am so happy to see that there’s an info post about them. Like in the extreme case that I can’t inject myself, somebody else would have to do it, but nobody knows how to do it! Thank you, this may just save my life some day.

Don’t be wimpy about it, either. I know friends who are like, “but idk if I could stab you with a needle!” Please stab me with the needle, don’t be hesitant about it.

In my case (I can’t speak for all allergies), an epi buys me 20 minutes of breathing to get to the hospital. It is not a magic bullet, it’s a few critical minutes to help get me where I need to go.

For those who don’t know, people with serious food allergies carry epinephrine which is an adrenaline shot just in case they have anaphylaxis, which is a life threatening allergic attack. This shot is life-saving and must be administered to someone who is having an anaphylactic attack as SOON AS POSSIBLE, because an extra waited minute could mean their life.

It doesn’t hurt much at all to use this needle. The first time I used mine, I didn’t even feel it. But be sure to stab it IN THE OUTER THIGH. Do not stick it anywhere else or you could seriously hurt or kill someone. Just right to the outside of the thigh and then call the ambulance - even if your friend starts doing better, they could have a biphasic reaction, meaning a reaction that comes back (or they may need a second dose, be on the look out). If your friend has an epipen, then they have an epipen trainer that doesn’t have a needle and you can try it out just to be sure you know how to use the real thing if you have to. I’d also advise holding it a few more seconds then 10, maybe go for 14 just to be sure all the medicine is administered and that you didn’t count too fast - that’s what I did.

This post specifies food allergies but it’s for any kind of anaphylactic allergy: my wife has one for her wasp/yellow jacket sting allergy.

If you know someone with an anaphylactic allergy, do ask where they keep their epipen. If they can’t talk or reach their epipen, you knowing ahead of time saves precious seconds getting them their medicine!

I Have No Teeth And I Must Fundraise

Hey everyone,

It's Your Local Bardic entity, Gallus Rostromengalus of Bread Jesus and other Weird Tumblr Story Fame.

Despite my best efforts to mitigate mt Terrible English Dental DNA, today two of my teeth broke.

I don't even have a fun story about this, it's literally terrible genetics and stress-grinding my teeth in my sleep.

I just got back from emergency surgery to get the pieces pulled and the hole in my jaw closed so I don't get an infection, but a second reconstruction surgery to give me a bone graft and dental implants will be needed so I can actually chew and use my mouth for it's intended purposes.

I do not currently have dental insurance. I haven't talked about it here much, but my husband was unemployed after getting laid off for almost all of last year. He has a job again, but it pays like 2/3rds of his previous one and the benefits are crap. Like no dental insurance until he's worked there at least a year.

So I'm on the hook for the full cost of Today's emergency surgery, Medication, and the necessary follow-up reconstruction, which my dentist estimates will cost between $5000-$7000. Our dentist has given us every discount she can and we have a payment plan, but losing half our household income has left us with no savings and credit cards at their limits. Even though I only need to come up with $500 this month to go ahead with the reconstructive surgery, I do not have any money to spare. It will also be VASTLY cheaper overall to pay for everything up front rather than pay interest over the months with the payment plan, but literally anything will help me right now.
