Pushing the Mary I/ Catherine of Aragon/ Jane Seymour agenda is my full time job
Catherine of Aragon by Edwin Austin Abbey, 1897
"In celebration of Maryās birth, Henryās coat of arms depicted a little Tudor Rose (Mary) emerging from a Pomegranate, (the symbol of the house of Aragon, Maryās mother). The stone feature originally adorned the gatehouse of Beaulieu Palace, now residing in the Chapel at New Hall School."
idk i think youāre just selling a product and using the language of reclamation and womenās history to do so
I just think itās wild to make a post about misogynistic ways historians have spoken about Tudor queens and then leave out Jane Seymour and Mary I
Mary I (Mary Tudor) (1516-1558), Aged 41 (after an original painting from 1556) Hans Eworth (c. 1520-after 1578) (after)
Googling āhow to nicely tell people that the witch hunt period was roughly 1400-1740 and that around 500,000 people were murdered in a form of social and moral cleansing without ripping them a new asshole?ā Cause I really canāt with how stupid people are.
still standing - phoebe bridgers
What is your quintessential Anne Boleyn portrait/image?
1. Unknown woman from Holbein/Holbein's workshop, use this for the sketch.
2. The NPG Portrait.
3. The Hoskins Miniature.
4. The Moost Happi medal.
5. The Holbein sketch in her nightwear.
6. The Hever Rose portrait.
7. Elizabeth I's ring.
8. Something else, e.g. Hunting w/ HVIII, AB in the Tower, saying goodbye to EI.
Itās taken a few days to fully process, but holy shit Phoebe Bridgers has released the greatest album of 2026. Truly saved this year.
Why do people still think that Anne of Cleves didn't want to remarry Henry, claiming it was just a trick to sweeten him up, when there's actual proof of it?
Because it will kill the theory that she was just a doormat for Katheryn Howard and Henry, and it will show everyone that she was more like Katherine of Aragon than they want to admit. A lot of people project Katherine of Aragon into Anne of Cleves and Anne Boleyn into Katheryn Howard as a 'what if' or what 'Katherine of Aragon should've done' with regards to Anne of Cleve stepping aside.
Most people don't know or ignore the fact that Anne of Cleves asked Henry to remarry her (and he actually didn't take offense) or that she didn't get along with Catherine Parr because of this.
Universe give me the strength to not throw tomatoes at āAnne Boleyn was Irishā people š
damn people rly hate type 2 diabetics don't they
i (type 1 diabetic) was explaining autoimmune diseases to someone and she was like ohh right so yours is the good kind of diabetes where you didn't do it to yourself. to which i objected that's not how type 2 works either. and she said well that's the fat old people disease. and i was like you can't say that, a) not how it works and b) extremely rude. and her defense was her grandparents have type 2 and "did it to themselves" and since they're fat old people she reserves the right to hate on them. i understand hating shitty grandparents but YOU are the shitty one here to hate on them for their medical conditions and weight rather than literally anything else. hello?!
anyway type 2 diabetics i'm sorry about the world. everyone* be kind to type 2s or else
*note to type 1 diabetics especially we need to be better at solidarity and not cling to being the "good ones" at type 2s' expense. what the fuck is a good kind of diabetes anyway
also worth saying diabetes is a complex reaction to a not-yet-fully-understood set of factors and environmental pressures and genetics and it's reductive and fatphobic to say fat=diabetes BUT EVEN SO no matter if someone did incontrovertibly "give themself diabetes" that's not a free pass for dehumanization. shut upppp
