So we all know Abed’s first love is tv/film, and he’s mentioned before (especially in early seasons) how even though he tries to make real life like a show and filter it through that lense, he doesn’t feel like anything about it compares. In season 4 Abed calls Annie his “third favorite show” and says that he’d rather watch her than the screen during their merlot and cougar town rerun nights. Then in Emotional Consequences of Broadcast Television, Abed gives a really beautiful speech about the comfort and beauty that a really good tv show can have, and he directly parallels it’s consequences to his relationship with Troy. And you expect me to believe he isn’t in love with both of them?

Y'all wanna know something really specific that’s always lowkey bothered me but not really enough to say something about it? When fic writers write a sex scene with an autistic character and tag it as dub-con/something similar and they say something like “tagging just because the character is how they are”. And I ALWAYS know they mean that the character is autistic and obviously can’t give full consent and this pisses me off so bad. Like 1) autistic people are still sexual beings who can enjoy sex and 2) if the partner was an actual good person who knew their significant other, they would know how to communicate well enough to get consent. Like if the person can’t speak in high stress situations, come up with a gesture or a sign or SOMETHING. So many autistic people make it work and have sex lives and to see fic writers throwing this away just makes me so angry sometimes.

TL;DR- If you can’t write a proper fic involving an autistic person giving consent, don’t write a sex scene with an autistic character.

troy and abed as a duo are so pure and refreshing and tender. their love for each other is never questioned or mocked by the narrative. they both acknowledge an attraction to girls but without the “no homo” gag - rather they consistently put each other *first* and prioritize the other’s happiness over any possible romantic entanglement. unlike most of the bitchass white dudebro slash ships fandom salivates over, troy x abed’s love isn’t “subtext”, it’s not buried under sarcastic “banter” or jokes or pointless “eyesex” that goes nowhere . it works as a gay romance, but it also works as a radical vision of male friendship that’s possible if cis-het men divest from soul destroying models of emotionless, hateful masculinity and simply let themselves be: nerds, geeks, emotional, soft, sensitive, caring, full of wonder. it’s truly a relationship ahead of our time - there’s still almost no equivalent example on popular tv, at least not between men of color, and as a tv fan i’m so grateful i got to experience it.
