Happy Holidays!🎄
im sorry but if you're complaining about seeing ocs in the tag for fallout, an RPG where you CREATE AN OC AS YOUR PLAYER CHARACTER TO ROLEPLAY IN SAID RPG then whatever youre dealing with is quite frankly terminal
*walking around in the OC-generator game* why are there so many damn OCs?????!??!!!
Also if anybody is interested Josh Gonzalez did mention how it’s a strange feeling to see characters he’s written in a show and not get any credit (which he understands isn’t necessary)
"In some ways, I think doing narrative in video games is a little akin to doing comic book work"
I think this is why I have such a hate for it, because essentially this is just canon fan fiction. It has nothing to do with the original writers for the game’s lore it’s changing. Not even a nod or cameos or anything for the game writers who created and worked on the franchise. Just completely disregarding them and making their own shit up.
Which they’ve accepted, when you work for a company you don’t own anything and there’s nothing you can do really, and that’s that. But the lack of any acknowledgement feels…off
more autistic danse things because im normal about the new content
often forgets that his knowledge and others people's knowledge Does Not Overlap most of the time. Spouts obscure/forgotten information and reacts with bewilderment if anyone doesnt know what hes talking about. His shock is genuine confusion: he only brings it up if he thinks there is an overlap. Its an attempt at conversation.
Has a habit of repeating himself verbatim if someone asks him to clarify. As in, if they don't understand what he's says, not just they didn't hear him, he doesnt pick up on that. He assumes it was an issue of not speaking clearly enough. So he just repeats himself, even though they need explanation and a rephrasing
Empathy will be the death of him. His first instinct is usually to try to Fix Whatever Is Upsetting someone, but he's pretty bad at gauging when someone wants comfort, Fixing, or to be left alone. Since joining the BOS, opts for the second instinct of Politely Ignoring their distress. Will offer brief condolences and then continue like normal even though his stomach is knotting.
Goes from clingy to Get The Fuck Away From Me in an instant. Gives friends whiplash. If Danse likes someone, he wants to be by their side 99% of the time. The 1% happens out of nowhere and he just wants to be alone in his garage and tinker with his weapons and not have to speak for a few dozen weeks. The other companions mistake this for him being pissed off or broody. No. Danse has a beer, he's fiddling with his laser rifle, the radio is playing country, and he doesnt have to make eye contact with anyone. This is his happy place.
Has a weak sense of smell after taking a Super Mutant's club to the face as an Initiate, but still has scents that make him violent. Strangely, the wasteland and it's monsters' stenches dont bug him too much. Its pre-war perfumes he has beef with. Lavender makes him irrationally upset, as does anything with sandalwood. Anything rose-scented will actually make him puke.
Will eat anything, not a picky eater, but does have a select few foods he cannot get down. Bug meat? Whatever. Don't ask him to eat mirelurk, though. The smell, the texture, the taste—skips dinner with the other companions if Mirelurk's on the menu. He's not the only one who hates it, so the Anti-Crabcake Club will run off and find a proper dinner.
His diet freaks out other people. Will eat the exact same thing, every day, for weeks. If theyre at Sanctuary, his breakfast is an identical bowl of savory grits. Same bowl, same spoon (he hates the other spoons), same time. Deacon has tried to introduce him to pancakes. Why would I need pancakes? I have grits with ground Brahmin meat. I'm good. Once he's at work on the road, wont bother with his habits, but at home, variation is the enemy

Danse's backstory about growing up as a scrap-picking orphan entirely alone in the Capital Wasteland until he was able to save up enough caps to open his own junk stand in Rivet City perfectly pairs with the classic American Bootstrap Myth (where someone was born into hardship and through hard work and perseverance, they're able to overcome their obstacles and open their own small business).
The fact that it all turns out to be fabricated in the end is kind of perfect .
In fact, despite being born (created?) over 200 years after the destruction of the United States in the Fallout universe, he's the character that most earnestly upheld what can be seen as "traditional American values" just to have it all crashing down around him (a less charitable way of viewing it would be that the leopards ate his face). The very thing that he fought so hard to uphold was the very thing that set him up to fail catastrophically.
When Alacrity was little she had this annoying little habit of unscrewing panels and wandering around the ductwork and pipework of the vault. It is half of the reason she's as savvy a mechanic as she is, however she did once become trapped in a quickly filling overflow area which lead to a lifelong fear of fast moving deep water.

Boone’s wife headcanon idea:
When she was alive, they were madly in love and in a happy marriage, but she acts the EXACT same way as Boone does, deadpan face and all, but since she’s A Girl™️ everyone takes it as her ‘being sour’ or whatever they called her, and so they thought she was unhappy.
