this is my fleabottom resident OC the unluckiest girl in the world. Her mama was a white worm informant and died in that horrible fire. Three days later, on the way to the market with her five year old half-sister, they got herded into the dragonpit for Aegon’s coronation by the gold cloaks and separated in the rubble of dragon 9/11. She never found her again. Her betrothed leaves her to sneak out of the city because he thinks he’s a dragonseed and wants to try his hand at honor and glory by claiming a dragon and is summarily incinerated. Her oldest half-brother gets conscripted to die defend Rook’s Rest, which means that her stepdad has to pick up extra shifts as a ratcatcher to support her and her other half-brother, until Aegon hangs him for catching rats. The blockade is hard on her and her remaining half-brother both, but they manage to scrape together enough with him lying about his age to enlist in the gold cloaks and her lucking into a gig as a scullery in the red keep. Unfortunately for them Rhaenyra seizes the city, which means she gets detained, sharply questioned, and fired with the rest of the kitchen staff for perceived disloyalty. When she finally gets out of the black cells she learns her brother has been disemboweled on his first day on shift due to the treacherous machinations of Ormund Hightower AND also Rhaenyra never paid him so they’re broke. While figuring out what she is possibly going to do, she gets swept off the street and into the courtyard by velaryon troops and forced to witness Rhaenyra coke ranting about the icy northern apocalypse that ordains her to the throne or they are all going to die and also she killed the Pope so mass is cancelled. This does nothing but contribute to her decision to kill Dreamfyre with a rock the next year and die in the attempt. She will be forgotten by history but her contribution to creating a world without dragon warlords still matters.

He would probably have Jon Arryn die as the result of a completely unrelated thing that everyone forgets about immediately and have his last words be misconstrued to cause more unnecessary conflict or have Cersei lose control over her children so one of them flies off the handle and kills Ned. Or have Jaime wander around purposeless until a freaky weirwood dream in Harrenhal makes him change course. Or put in some dumbass plot about how your hair color determines the legitimacy of your parentage even though that’s hypocritical. Or deny characters catharsis through violent revenge because War Bad. Or have dany talk about how she’s just a little girl uneducated in the ways of war in front of men even though that’s sexist and have her dragons eat people or carry her off somewhere because she can’t really control them. Or get too into Cersei’s desperate struggle against her own body because of misogyny. Or have Robb give up his sisters as hostages in favor of keeping Jaime Lannister to make a point about how girls are less valuable. Or have Catelyn get randomly lucky enough to run into Tyrion Lannister in one inn in the entire kingdom and kidnap him on a complete misconception that he tried to kill her son but it was actually like…Joffrey, because he wants to be like his dad or something. Or have stannis start a civil war to usurp the throne over a misinterpretation of a prophecy. Or get way too into peace being a brave option and not a cowardly one.
