she/ her/ hers please. Welcome to my Tales and posts!
I’m 38 & 🥰I'm a lover girl🥰
You'll find me orbiting Bucky Barnes, Loki, and Nightcrawler most often — writing the quiet delight of love with someone who sees you completely, understands you wholly, and stays anyway.
My process is a little chaotic. I write in scenes and moments so vivid they feel like memories. Never outlines. Usually at hours no sane person should be awake.
I am, after all, the resident PrismaticParamour. 🕯️🥀
But, even a lover girl has a naughty, darker side. You'll see 😈

Steve was perplexed. While it wasn't uncommon for new recruits to be a little shy at first, you'd been training with SHIELD for almost a month and still had yet to come out of your shell. Every time he led exercises you kept quiet and made yourself small.
Well, as small as someone your size could get. You were just as tall as Steve and almost as broad in the shoulders. But the only time he's ever seen you at full height was when you were ordered to stand at attention.
He's tried talking to you, getting to know you. But you instantly clam up, give one word answers, if that. You practically shrink yourself down in size every time he's near.
I'm his frustration, he starts asking the other Avengers about you, seeing if you're like this with them as well. Bucky and Sam confirm they've also never seen you at full height, but Nat says she's never had an issue.
"Does the recruit hate men?" Steve asks Nat. "Or is it that she's just shy around them?"
Nat gives him a small, sad smile. "I'm going to guess it's something else. Let's ask FRIDAY to spy on some of her fellow recruits?"
"I'll trust you on this," he cedes.

A few days later, Steve can't believe what he's hearing. The vitriol of several of the male recruits making fun of your figure. Lying to you about him, Sam and Bucky not liking having to look up at women who are as tall, or taller, than them. Laughing mockingly about how the only way you'll get through training is if you take up less space.
"You knew this was happening?" Steve asks Nat without looking.
"Had my suspicions. Needed permission to get proof."
"Next time just ask. Don't let it get this far."
"She's experienced this before," Nat surmises. "Not every guy is as secure in themselves as you. Wouldn't surprise me if she's had to make herself small most of her life."
"Well I'm going to do something about it."

Today's training was with Captain Rogers instead of Captain Wilson. Apparently it was a special demonstration or something.
"ATTENTION!" Captain Rogers shouts causing everyone to stand up straight. Your shoulders and back welcomed the stretch.
"It seems to me there has been a lot of misinformation regarding the effect a person's size has on their ability to do well in SHIELD."
Your blood turns cold. Had you not been shrinking enough? Have you been taking up too much space again?
Agent Romanov steps into the mat, looking so tiny and frail next to Captain Rogers. You'd give anything to be so small.
She calls out the names of the guys that make fun of you for being so big and orders them to step forward.
Captain Rogers steps towards them, his face so angry all of the recruits flinch.
"Do you know the key to survival? The most important thing that makes SHIELD missions successful?"
"Sir?"
"Teamwork. Trust in your fellow agents. Supporting your fellow recruits," he barks. "It's come to my attention that you're sabotaging your team. Breaking down fellow recruits."
Your breath hitches. Is Captain America standing up for you?
"With that in mind, you boys are no longer allowed here. We have no room for fragile egos here."
All of your bullies turn to glare at you.
"You look at her one more time and I'll sic Romanov and her sister on you."
Steve glares as the "men" walk off to the locker room, followed by Nat to make sure they didn't cause more trouble.
When they're out of sight, he steps in front of you and you swear you feel your heart stop.
"Recruit, I expect you to be standing at full height from here on out. Bunching your shoulders together like you have been isn't good for them."
"Yes, Captain," you answer fighting the urge to cry.
Can I just say I love you so much for big shoulder reader? People don't talk about fem readers being wide in stature instead of just fluffy (like don't get me wrong, I'm wide in BOTH directions, but even skinny Tomiti would still wear plus size clothing because my shoulders are fucking massive) and I'm so here for that. Reader with man shoulders, how I love you.
Is reader Dorito-shaped like Steve or does she have big hips, too?
“You write the beginning and then you go back and rewrite the beginning, and you never got off page one. It’s kind of a syndrome, and I have a rash piece of advice which is — Go on, page two, page three, and never look back. Get something finished, no matter how lousy it is. […] Perfectionists cannot get going unless they kind of do violence to their own instincts, and just blast ahead.”
— Ursula K. Le Guin, The Last Interview and Other Conversations
American comedian Josh Johnson made such an interesting observation about the ways in which men express love for their friends. He noted that he saw his girlfriend and her female friends openly tell one another they loved each other, at the end of phone calls and catch-ups; in the middle of hanging out; during conversations etc. Women, he noted, were freer with the small instances of vocally sharing love.
In his experience, men, on the other hand, don’t generally say ‘I love you’ to their male friends. He said that men look for loyalty in friendships and that takes precedence over verbally saying that they care for one another. He joked that they looked for ride-or-die – i.e. someone who will die for you. That’s love to men. It’s why their circle of friends is generally small and consists of a male relative or someone whom they went through a significant event with such as in the case of war buddies.
This is such an interesting way to view male friendships, how they connect, and what is important to them. Again, it’s not about every man, but it’s something this man noticed about his peers and own experiences. I found this insightful. And it made me think about Bucky saying ‘I love you, buddy’ to Sam. Made me think about how they are/were each other’s ride-or-die. How they went to war together. How they are part of each other’s inner circle.
How Sam kept texting and checking in with Bucky even when he didn’t have the spoons to reply. How even though Sam told Bucky not to follow him on missions, big or small, he did always. The ‘I’m coming with you’. The ‘you stuck your neck out for me’. How Bucky showed up for Sam in Delacroix; how he showed up when Torres was injured, and Sam was questioning himself. How all of that shows loyalty and love.
How Bucky, even though he was demonstrating his love for Sam, still said the words, ‘I love you’.
No matter how you look at it, they share a deep and loyal friendship. Any other version of their friendship that doesn’t show this loyalty and love is simply out of character and false.
