Coughs. Would you mind pointing me to some of the academic writing you mentioned in the tags of your reblog, if it's not too much trouble? I'm really curious and thought it would be a good place to start. Thank you!!

I see you linked a post in which I make that claim in the tags, and I'm glad to provide sources for it!
"A Karamazov Companion" by Victor Terras (it's a book that is mainly about nuances in translation):
"Kalganov" by Eric Naiman, on JSTOR:
"Discovering Sexuality in Dostoevsky" by Susanne Fusso:
"The Female Characters of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky" by Lisa di Bartolomeo (in fact I just found this one while looking for another one, I've yet to read it in full)
I remember a couple more, but I can't find them right now. As you can see, we're definitely not the only ones who think Katya was acting way over the top towards Grushenka.

Unrestrained winter fun
Favorite types of characters in Dostoevsky novel (will add if I forget some) (one can be both at the same time):
- Very kind and smart promiscuous woman but nobody respects her for it
-The angel that will go through insane suffering for no reason
-the most evil guy ever (has usually groomed at least one kid)
-self hatred so hard it reverse back to narcissism
-Victim of the worst guy that usually tries to kill themselves or has killed themselves
-Guy that is deep in debauchery and hate themselves for it
-Nihilist intellectual
-Socialist, also deep in debauchery but they are happy
-The type of greed they talk about in the Bible
-girl boss
Dmitri and Grushenka referring to each other (in order of appearance).
(Katz translation, except for "rogue")
dostoyevsky bingo i made to play while reading the idiot for the first time (no spoilers)
I had a dream about venting to Pierre and him comforting me and I remember waking up feeling so confused and alone
