so, making one of my last gifsets i noticed cassian’s face in this scene (not for the first time but i looked even closer this time) — and you can actually pinpoint the exact moment he realises they won’t make it. in the second gif you can see him squint just a little bit, focusing on the horizon, and then his face opens up.

— and in the third gif he’s taking a breath (jyn is visibly swallowing as well) and is furrowing his brows, seemingly accepting his fate.

it’s so small and just a tiny shift in his features but you can actually see his realisation that they’re doomed, that they will die — here, on this beach, together.

it breaks my heart.

He nods a little in the third gif and it kills me EVERY TIME. Both of them are stunning in this scene because you really can see every emotion in such a short moment.
