The vast majority of conservatives think of themselves as underdogs being repressed by the government/the elite, and they value personal freedom (specifically their personal freedom, they don’t care about other people). The will almost always agree with leftist points if you can find a way to blame the problem on their vague enemies (useful, since rich people are the root of most problems), and tie it back to their ability to say fuck everyone else. NEVER appeal to science, theory, logic, or human goodness. Make it seem as if you are a paranoid lunatic who trusts no one. They love it.

The hill I will die on, come at me bro: we should still be teaching cursive to kids in school, there was absolutely no good reason to cut it out. “Everything is digital now” ok first of all that’s simply not true, second of all, if everything is digital, why did we also cut the typing classes? Cursive is not fucking Latin, it’s not a dead archaic thing that we don’t use anymore, wedding invites, signage, restaurant menus use cursive, my grandmother’s photos are captioned in cursive, my mother’s letters are written in cursive, MY fucking journals are written in cursive and we’ve collectively decided that it’s ok if the next generation can’t read any of this? No. Who the hell decided this? Not fucking me.

And if nothing else, cursive is an excellent exercise in fine motor skills and hand eye coordination, which young kids are now severely lacking, and fine art adjacent, which no one gives a shit about. It only takes a couple months to teach kids cursive in school, it’s not useless, it’s not obsolete, I am alarmed that suddenly everyone decided this and I want to know why, putting cursive classes back in school would give these iPad kids something tactile to practice, maybe you personally did not enjoy learning cursive in school but that doesn’t make it a useless skill!
