This was shared as a "bad" joke but I was so charmed by it I've been thinking about it for days.
Moose at the next table: No they don't. I've been waiting here for an hour.
just identified a behavioral pattern within myself

just watched a star trek episode about a planet that relied so heavily on it's computer system that they all forgot the basics of their own knowledge. and that allowed them to miss the fact that they were being posioned with radiation and nearly ending their civilization. because they couldn't use their own knowledge to figure things out. i bring this up for no reason in particular
we all know adult humans dont get enough enrichment but the other day i was walkin home past an empty playground and impulsively ran over to spin myself on this zipline merry-go-round contraption for a few minutes and it really did feel like it unlocked some neglected part of my brain. like damn we really should all go outside and play more. fuck. they werent kidding with this play time thing. have you guys heard about play time. it could be huge.
i've seen some hanahaki universes also where you can have the flowers surgically removed (while removing your feelings for the other person in the process). which i think holds equal amounts of untapped messy drama and angst potential
oh yeah that’s a classic. i remember i once read a fic where the character did go through with the surgery but still wanted to keep the person in their life afterwards and made them promise to stick around even if their post-surgery self wouldn’t care either way, and then they just slowly fell in love all over again, while the other person got the time to develop their own feelings naturally. which i thought was rlly refreshing. “the feelings aren’t coincidental, they grow back as long as you are still you and i am still me” is a romantic answer to the decidedly unromantic possibility of being able to cut someone out of your heart by force. suits the plant & disease motifs too. hanahaki relapse. dandelion style hanahaki. use all the weed killer u want, u will never get me out of ur lawn. i’m losing my train of thought here
*slides this across the table* you're going to want to read this
There are Experiences behind this sign
There is absolutely a platonic explanation for that
But I will also entertain the non platonic for my own edification do u understand
“People should pass a test before being allowed to have kids.” “Isn’t it scary how white people have this inborn capacity for evil?” “I’ll never pass because males and females have different skull shapes.” “Autistic people have a stronger sense of justice than anyone else.” “I don’t want AMABs in my space because they’re dangerous.” “You shouldn’t have access to hormones if you dress like THAT.” “Anyone who does something that awful isn’t human.” “Some people really shouldn’t be allowed to vote.”
This is eugenics. This is phrenology. THIS IS NAZI SHIT, YOU ARE A LEFTIST BUYING INTO NAZI SHIT. YOU ARE NOT IMMUNE TO NAZI SHIT.
Oh, no, Thumbelina. No. Don't ever wish to be anything but what you are.
THUMBELINA (1994) dir. Don Bluth, Gary Goldman
I have been a sheep caretaker for like two days and already I'm like. Wow. I get it.
I get why these were some of the earliest mammals to ever be domesticated. They look up to humans with this sort of dumb but all at once innocent and pure and trusting expression. They're happy to see you. They follow you around. They like to be rubbed under their chins. Maybe its just some latent Scottish highland shepherd DNA I still have in me but I look at my sheep charges and suddenly I see why the love of God for humanity is so often described as a shepherd and his sheep. I'd fight a wolf for these guys. I'd go way the Hell out of my way for them. I'd carry their young for miles on my own back.
nearly 80k reblogs and how many of you eat lamb
The ancient shepherds I'm referencing also ate lamb lol
i think even if someone lives there right now they should let you go into your childhood home like once a year just to check it out
"my childhood home was traumatic" don't go then. this post is about me
the situation with harry potter is kind of unprecedented in some ways imo because it is maybe the largest media franchise in history to be created & owned by a single person who still has direct creative control over it. who is also a billionaire with significant cultural/political influence. like the usual "no ethical consumption under capitalism" type excuses shatter on impact when the bigoted author in question is logging onto twitter every day saying explicitly that when you buy the tim hortons ravenclaw donut she is using your donut money to fund the genocide of trans people. like with big franchises usually there's at least a little more diffusion of responsibility than this
#sometimes people will do a harry potter comparison to say ppl are morally obligated to join an informal boycott of another author's work #when that author is revealed as sleazy or abusive or bigoted #and i will be real: i just don't think that's true. #go ahead and stop engaging with that other person's work if that's what your conscience dictates #but it's not a very meaningful choice one way or the other #outside of what it means to YOU. #but harry potter is different. you actually do have to eschew that shit. #you can't even 'be a fan' without paying for anything-- you're still feeding into the cultural phenomenon #that allowed and allows this woman to act like a petty tyrant #and pump money into hate groups #it truly is unique. singular. unlike any other situation in literature. JK Rowling isn't just a bigot, she's an oligarch, and has been for decades. She's personal friends with Gordon Brown, Keir Starmer, and several other major players in the Labour Party; she single-handedly funds virtually every queerphobic hate-group on this island. She single-handedly provided most of the funding for the No Campaign in 2014, meaning that she bears more personal responsibility than any other person alive for Scotland's lack of independence. She has BBC and ITN at her beck-&-call.
JK Rowling is to British politics what Elon Musk and Peter Thiel are to American politics. Indulging in Harry Potter at this point isn't the equivalent of indulging in something like Ender's Game; it's the equivalent of buying a Tesla, or stock in Palantir. Everyone who was going about blowing up Teslas during that weird six-month period when Musk was Trump's de facto co-President should've been blowing up Harry Potter shops, too, if they actually had a consistent belief system, but since most of her money comes from Americans who have no idea just how broad, and sinister her influence is here, there's nothing the people whose lives she ruins can do about it.
i ... love him so much
and i wrote... my first fanfic. and it's only 600 words. but i had fun!
