I don’t have time to draw it right now but while driving home from the winco I saw a happy mustached man pedaling a bike, towing a cart built to look like a chariot, inside of which stood what I can only imagine was his completely expressionless 13 year old in a makeshift corinthian helmet

Where did the whopping huge meteor come down? I assume if there are core samples, we know where it was, and maybe there are remnants of it?
Chicxulub Puerto, Yucatan, Mexico, fucking exactly
also the people of Chicxulub Puerto are fully aware of this, and even created a memorial for all of dinosaurkind on their own dime!
and personally, I think this single heartfelt block of concrete is more fitting than any number of sleek expensive monoliths in the world's best museums.

"June 26, 2015, is a landmark date in American LGBT history. On that day, the US Supreme Court extended marriage equality to all fifty states and struck down state bans on same-sex unions. That court decision has transformed life — for the better — for LGBT people across the country."
Marriage equality recognizes that my relationships with men have the same value as my relationships with women.
remember roe v. wade?
Yeah. And I remember when Obama promised that he would encode it into law so that it was no longer something the SCOTUS could reverse. And I remember when Obama got into office with majorities in both houses of Congress, and then announced that encoding abortion access into law was not a priority, and did nothing. And I remember how we then got innumerable campaign announcements about how we had to donate to and vote for the Democrats to protect abortion.
The Democrats refuse to actually protect the people whose votes they demand, because keeping them under threat makes a hell of a fundraising campaign.
"umm what's a real movie, you obvious snob" thanks for asking. a real movie is one that was made with the primary purpose of telling a story, not investor value. okay now the world is your oyster.
"I enjoyed this movie" is never an incorrect take, and there's nothing sexy or cool about judging someone for it. Enjoy what you enjoy, ignore what you don't, and leave other people alone. Christ.
no you're wrong
i implore you all to watch this video that my mom took and sent me
YES EXACTLY!!! environmental storytelling
I would like a nice giant to treat me like that tiny frog and gently put me somewhere safe and tell me my protective colouration was nifty and attractive.
This website is too mobile focused these days. Reblog and tell me what your desktop/laptop background is.
Girl help people in the notes are calling me rich and privileged for owning a computer.
Guys if your definition of wealth is "owning a computer" then I'm sorry but you're not ready for the revolution. Listen, when the lord of the land makes his subjects stand in the open rain, their enemy is not the man who wore a hat.
I just want everyone to remember that Donald Trump has spent the last several weeks mocking and berating everybody who suggested Biden step aside because the republicans really did not want to run against someone other than Joe Biden. They have no plan, no playbook, no protocol, for running against someone other than Joe.
If you're feeling defeatist right now, please just understand that the Trump Campaign Strategy People are having the worst, most stressful day of the campaign as they scramble to figure out how to beat somebody who isn't Biden in November. Their ace in the hole was a hunk of Kryptonite up their sleeve and now they find out they won't be fighting Superman. THAT is the mood of today.
Not if Harris becomes the nominee, it's a small adjustment. They've been saying a vote for Biden is a vote for Harris to be President and stoking racist, sexist, and communist fears for a while now.
Well, a few things.
The first is that the Trump campaign started to downplay the "we're gonna be stuck with president HARRIS" narrative pretty quickly after they aired their super bowl ad to that effect and realized that they'd miscalculated and that "President Kamala Harris" is not a scary phrase to most people outside their established Base and, in fact, might actually help some people still on the fence swallow their concerns and vote for Biden-Harris. Soon after that, they shifted their focus to "Joe is in cognitive decline! He's sundowning! He's too old to govern!" and that DID lose Biden points at the polls, so they kept with it
Second, another crucial thing to understand is that while the electorate is often deeply racist, and sexist, overt display of either of these things is INCREDIBLY unpopular among voters. Being racist and sexist only wins you points at the polls if you perform like you're not doing that. Misogyny absolutely played a major central role in why Clinton wasn't elected, but critically, a lot more people voted for her than Trump, and the moments where he went mask-off sexist with her are the ones that lost him popularity. The sexist moments that GAINED him popularity were the ones where he pretended to be doing something else: saying she's Crooked or focusing on her Emails or on ad hominem attacks on Bill.
Harris, unlike Clinton, doesn't have a 30-year Republican playbook dedicated to stopping her specifically from becoming president. If he wants to go after her on the basis of race, he'll likely try the Birtherism strategy— which, I'll remind everyone, was everywhere for several years and still failed— and if he wants to go after her on the basis of gender, his moves will likely be "inexperienced" which will fall flat against the incumbent vice president and "unstable" which he knows won't work because she's known for being unflappable, which is why he's so desperately trying to avoid the next debate with her.
Unfortunately ain't shit can be done about the "my opponent is a communist" narrative. Republicans do that against any and every Democrat regardless of age, race, or gender.
Again, nothing is a sure thing. But we have hard data on exactly one woman in the country, that voters are willing to look past their sexism and misogyny and cast their vote for her anyway. Undoubtedly the attacks on her will be racist and sexist, but we actually have seen how that's played out, with her, against this opponent, in the past.
It is really hard to make the communist narrative or some sort of, Kamala Harris loves BLM and hates cops narrative actually stick to her though, because of the way that she was very much disavowed by the left in earlier primaries It's not that long ago in internet history that you can find communists roasting her specifically for being centrist, and for anarchists hating her specifically for liking cops. Her greatest weakness in prior primaries is now her greatest strength. Bluntly speaking, the left isn't going to let her get the stolen valor of being an anarchocommunist, as the right is going to try to claim.
I think people need to be more comfortable with illegalism and I’m not kidding. Of course the more legal something is, the safer and easier it is to do, but the more people who disregard the law, the harder it is to enforce. There are plenty of laws on the books that people just ignore and are never or rarely policed.
Becoming more comfortable with little illegal activities makes you more comfortable with bigger more important illegal activities. Additionally, it is crucial to build a wall of silence. Nobody talks everybody walks.
People who give out food without a permit, hold a march without a permit, grow a garden without a permit, are more likely to be people you could turn to to work with on preventing an eviction, or keeping people out of cop hands, or helping your friend Jane get crucial healthcare when it’s not legal in your state.
Communities comfortable with these acts won’t call the cops, and then nobody knows that it’s happening.
People have got to shift from both the idea that lawful = good/ illegal = bad, and that the illegality of something means that’s the end of it, and the only fight left is to make it legal again.
illegalism
This is so sweet.
