Ahhhh, there's the unnecessary scenes I was waiting for. I was wondering how long the twisted sisters could go in a series before I felt like I was being dragged along. Dont get me wrong, I still had a good time. We just had to shuffle our feet for a while so some time could pass.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think I'm liking this .....more than Zodiac Academy? The smaller cast of characters is really helping, plus the world is already established (even if the Waning Lands are quite different from Solaria). Im loving learning more about Ether, and its really interesting to see how it can be used for more than just Shadows.

I also am dying to get a little bit more about the Reapers. Are they trying to continue the war? Or are they trying to end it on their specific terms? Im hoping book three will have more Harlan chapters so we can find out. Even though I kind of hate him...

For some reason, I recently decided that I needed to either reread Wheel of Time or Zodiac Academy. Instead of either of those massive commitments, I decided to read something in the same universe.

This was a bit of a rough start. But I really got in to it after a few chapters. And that ending?!? I should have expected nothing less from the twisted sisters.

Its really interesting to be on the other side of the world from Solaria. We heard bits about this other continent, but those couldnt prepare me for just how violent and war filled it is. And the corruption? I dont even really know anything about that yet, but I can tell it's going to run deeeeeeep.

hey so filming people without their consent is weird. you know that right? filming people you don't know and they aren't aware of what you're doing is creepy. posting strangers online is fucking weird. we're too comfortable with doing it now for shits and giggles, chasing some sort of viral hit instead of reckoning with the fact that you posted someone who did not consent to their body and face being publically used.

we're being pushed these Meta Glasses as if mass surveillance of strangers is fun and normal! it's weird!!! there are already reports that people are using these to film women without them knowing and sharing it to communities who get off on this shit. who else knows who people are filming. these glasses with cameras are not obvious and that is dangerous.

Okay but also this is legitimately dangerous. People hide from social media for very valid reasons. Domestic violence survivors, former trafficking victims, former cult members - all of these people rely on the ability to not be found again. Putting people's photos online absolutely endangers their lives. A cheap joke online is not worth the value of someone's life.

Also i think people do not need any special qualifying factors to deserve unrecorded public existence as a right

that little sign that says if you are entering this venue you may be recorded is key here. Also When i take videos in bars and performance venues i focus on the performer not the crowd when posting footage. There are thoughtful methods of recording in public that aren't getting every passer by to sign a release form.

If you are in the background of content that is one thing but i think the audacity of having to POINT YOUR PHONE/CAMERA and be visibly filming is missing here. Why are hidden cameras being technologically normalised?

Also of course there's not just the dubious uses on purpose that endanger people's privacy, plenty of people thoughtlessly wearing them are inadvertently exposing sensitive footage of themselves
