I am going in to setup my room tomorrow. I am excited for another year, but nervous for another year of pandemic teaching. Luckily my district is requiring masks and I am hoping we will be as cautious as last year again!
i think the hardest part about this job is not being able to say What The Fuck
During my sophomore year biology class, we all had to dissect worms. One of the kids in class ate one. A few minutes into the class, the teacher was like, “oh, by the way, make sure not to touch your mouth. These worms are covered in super poisonous formaldehyde.”
The kid who had eaten the work went pale. The kids at his desk huddled around him for a whispered discussion about whether or not he should admit to what he’d done, or keep his mouth shut and hope he survived it. He eventually decided that he did not want to risk death, put up his hand, and very timidly informed the teacher of his little snack.
The poor teacher. She just got this look on her face, like she was considering switching careers immediately. Anyway, she ended up calling 911. I don’t know how things went down at the hospital, but the kid survived.
Note to self. Have to tell the kids not to eat the fucking dissection worms
One month until work again. I have really tried to mentally block out going back to the classroom in the fall all summer. I had hoped we would be in a better place pandemic wise and we just aren’t. I’m so worried for the health of myself and my students this fall. I really hope my district sticks to our COVID plan.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Look buddy, i’m just trying to make it to Friday.
reblog if its friday and you made it
20 days left. Has this school year felt extra long to anyone else?

“i am so fucking done with this shit” i whisper to myself as i continue
Does anyone else have a particular date or event that ‘started’ the pandemic for them? Even though that event clearly happened after everything ‘started’?
March 13 - when we sent the kids home from school at the end of the day with extra materials “just in case” while stating no one has made any closing announcements yet but fervently wishing that they would.
Yep. It was a Friday. Friday the 13th. March 13th. We sent the kids home and then never saw them again.
Z got a vaccine appointment for tomorrow! We will both be fully vaccinated before April break 🥰
Z and I bought some new furniture for the apartment and it feels so cozy in here now. It’s just the refresh we needed! Now we are just looking for some easy to care for plants (I am so bad about caring for plants they all die) and art!
I finally finished my masters degree and I cannot believe all this freetime? I can actually do things that I want to do every weekend? My stress levels have gone way down and I really enjoy being home from work now. I used to dread coming home from work just to log on to grad school.
Now I feel really bad for Z because he mentioned how much happier I have been since I’ve finished and I’m pretty sure he was accidentally on the recieving end of some crazy grad school anxiety.
