Midnight Sun. It’s trying to be a good book. And it’s sort of enjoyable if you’re already invested in the saga. The first few chapters, at least.
I hear Anne Rice’s voice, or influence, echoing in some parts of the story, which matures the content somewhat and that’s a good thing I suppose.
But honestly, I wish I hadn’t read it. I loved Edward in Twilight. Edward in Midnight Sun is relentless and passive aggressive and whiny. The mystery that added to his allure is gone now reading from his POV. The reasons I imagined he looked at Bella or responded to Bella in a certain way I find annoying now reading what he’s actually thinking or feeling. It’s not sexy or dangerous, it’s bland.
It was a struggle to get through.
In my opinion.
