There are not enough district attorneys to convince me that the man who taught me how to ride a bike is meant to spend his life in a cage.

“Literature is the most agreeable way of ignoring life.” - Fernando Pessoa, The Book of Disquiet (via the-book-diaries)
We define ourselves by the number of people who watch the pages of our stories unfold. We never ask if the plots matter.

There’s a monster in my bedroom
He looms over me and licks his lips as his hungry eyes devour me
The word ‘run’ is buried in his sinister chuckle
But I don’t
I don’t run, or scream, or cry out for help
I don’t even flinch.
Despite the danger lurking inches from my face, the only thing on my mind is you
The monster’s fangs glisten in the candlelight as he flashes a predatory smile
Why didn’t you smile like that when you held me?
He leans down and pushes a strand of hair from in front of my face with his claws
Just like you used to do
His breath smells like stale beer and nachos as he whispers into my ear
His warmth lingers on my neck
I don’t hear what he says
The only voice I hear is yours, your last words stuck on repeat in my brain
Worthless slut, your voice says
As the monster crushes my mouth with his own, your voice amplifies
Tears trail down the side of my face. I expect the monster to hesitate or stop, but he doesn’t.
He kisses me deeper as his hands slide up my shirt
I think of you, and how in the entire year we were together I don’t remember your hand sliding up my shirt
I think of all the hours wasted on makeup you never noticed and outfits you always tore to shreds in your haste to devour my flesh
I think of how upset you’d be if you could see me right now, how your face would turn crimson with rage as you demanded I stop
But you didn’t stop, did you?
So I let him
Somebody get those Red Skull panels in here…
Also when you’re getting good at recognizing when villains are thinly-veiled strawmen of your own beliefs and ways of life and that makes you just fanboy them harder out of spite.
My personal favorites of those were the Chantry from Dragon Age and The Elusive Man from Mass Effect.
Another belief of mine; that everyone my age is an adult, whereas I am merely in disguise.
Margaret Atwood (via quotemadness)
“A savage desire for strong emotions and sensations burns inside me: a rage against this soft-tinted, shallow, standardized and sterilized life, and a mad craving to smash something up, a department store, say, or a cathedral, or myself.” - Hermann Hesse, Steppenwolf (via the-book-diaries)
I don’t know what they are called, the spaces between seconds, but I think of you always in those intervals.
Salvador Plascencia (via quotemadness)
do you ever get sad attacks and it drains you and you’re just left sitting there like wow this is so uncalled for rude
