Type 4 hair is often described as "rough", "nappy", or "ghetto". Women with shorter type 4 hair, especially 4c, are called "bald" or portrayed as masculine. A lot of people only appreciate type 4 hair if it's long, but all type 4 hair is beautiful. In many cases, a lot of hairstylists don't know how to work with kinky, textured hair such as type 4, so women with this hair type are either turned away, told to fix their hair before getting braids or protective styles, or the stylist attempts their hair and damages it. Type 4 hair is beautiful and deserves appreciation in all of it's forms! Healthy hair is good hair!
