So this is a thrash metal confessional blog. Confessions that will also be accepted: - NWOBHM - Death Metal/Grindcore - Black Metal - Doom Metal - Hardcore Punk - Power/Speed Metal - Progressive Metal - Classic Rock bands that heavily influenced metal - Anything linked to metal culture generally - Glam Metal but only as a culture generally or when compared to thrash since they're the genres from the same period. - Metalcore only as a culture - Grunge only as a culture Confessions that WILL NOT be submitted: - Glam metal bands - Grunge bands - Folk Metal - Industrial Metal - Nu-Metal - Modern Rock that doesn't have to do anything with thrash and metal (unless you compare it with thrash or something it's fine) - Metalcore - Repetitive confessions Feel free to confess, just click "Send your confessions" under the blog title on the right day. All the confessions don't have to refer to admin's opinion. If your confession is not submitted, it is either because is just one word, not linked with thrash and the culture or it was really hard to understand. And please write your confessions grammatically correct as best as you can. If it happens that I used your art or photo as an image for confession, just contact me via messaging and I'll remove it. Dear peeps, I recently started my solo art project. My biggest inspirations are Mike Patton (especially Mr. Bungle) and John Zorn; others include: King Crimson, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Yes, Megadeth, Voivod, Venom, Motorhead, Hawkwind. All instruments, composition and artwork done by me. Hope you dig this. :)
“The whole metal elitism is completely absurd. It's amazing how many people don't get to realize that even their favorite musicians, who they religiously worship, do not listen to metal 24/7. Just look at their favorite bands and influences. Examples: Lemmy has several times mentioned that ABBA is one of his favorite groups of all time; Peter Hammill influenced heavily on both Dickinson's and Halford's singing; Dave Mustaine is a hardcore Elton John and Cat Stevens fan. Finally, the earliest heavy bands such as Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Iron Butterfly, Deep Purple and Blue Cheer for sure didn't listen to metal as it didn't really exist back then! It just amazes me how majority of metal musicians, in fact, have far more diverse taste than their fans.”
“It really bugs when I see people say Joey Belladonna sounds terrible live or that Anthrax should bring back John. I mean no offense to John, but Joey gives Anthrax their unique voice and I hope that when I'm almost 60 years old, I can still sing, much less have a voice.”
“I get really angry when people hate on Pantera. You don't have to like their music but they deserve some respect for being one of the most important metal bands of the 90's.“
“Judas Priest did not bust their asses all throughout the 70's and 80s just for Iron Maiden to get all the love and credit for NWOBHM. People constantly ignore Judas Priest and it's one thing to shit on a band but it's a whole lot worse to ignore them even after decades.”
“A while back I had made a confession on Metallica's latest album, "Hardwired...To Self-Destruct" and I had said something along the lines that the album is pretty bad. Well, after giving it one more listen, it's not as bad as I initially thought. Some of the songs like title track, Atlas Rise, Dream No More and Spit out the Bone have really grown on me and pretty solid tunes. However, I still think they should have left out some of the filler tracks and a one disc album.“
“I appreciate Bolt Thrower's dedication to metal and not allowing companies to control them in the slightest but now that they've called it quits it's nearly impossible to get Bolt Thrower merch that isn't a bad fake or scalped. Even their CDs can be hard to get sometimes.“
“I suppose DEATH By Metal is a good documentary but it almost skips over the Mantas and early DEATH era. Just because Chuck grew up and out of the first two albums doesn't mean they were bad or never happened.“
