Oooh, hey, we the consumers are NOT crazy! Talenti really HAS tanked in quality. Also the lids really are impossible to pry off sometimes.
This is a really great article diving into the precise reason for the enshittification of the gelato and sorbet brand. As with almost all of these stories, it starts with the brand changing hands (unilever owns it now).
Also, interesting, the term 'gelato' isn't strictly defined in US law, so much like with the term 'all natural' basically any product could/can use it if they want even if it's not remotely gelato.
