are you kidding me
i cannot emphasize how much it sucks that people in movies donât look real anymore. like conventionally attractive people have always been cast more as leads but up until like a decade ago they had visible age lines and textured skin and double chins and imperfect teeth. like whenever iâm feeling insecure i just have to watch a regular movie from the 70s and remind myself that im actually not unhygienic and disgusting for having teeth that are a little yellow and visible pores
genuinely social media has fucked everything up and we need to realize that the average person is normal and you are in fact allowed to make art and exist in the public eye while not looking like an airbrushed 20 year old and that your personal appearance really does not matter that much
your honour, tbh, ngl, idgaf

Op casually leaving out that the entire thing has been organized by Lindanaâs children

HUH?
đrightintomyheartđđŒfollow
Just to clarify you mean like. THE Lindana. As in the pop star from the 80s.

I do! Bobbi (who has been running a hair salon since the bandâs breakup) updated the website saying heâll be out for a reunion concert. And that he was convinced after speaking with two kidsâPhineas and Ferb Flynn-Fletcher, who want them to come back to perform at their mother, Lindaâs anniversary.

No, not nepotism. You guys donât get to hate on these kids, theyâre super cool. They came into my shop & asked me to perform for their parents. They made no mention of their mom being Lindana. Weâre literally prepping for the concert right now and I just learned this from tumblr. Had to fact check it with Bobbi. Point is, at no point did they try to leverage their momâs fame. They genuinely just wanted to do something sweet for their parents. I doubt they even thought to try and use their motherâs status. They simply explained how passionate their parents were about the band.

Ok so tonight we have learned:
Love Handel is coming back
Lindanaâs children asked them to come back
Lindanaâs kids apparently donât even realize the implications of their mom having previously been famous
Danny of Love Handël uses tumblr
Danny ALSO is getting his news from tumblr

#also I did some digging #and like #her kids also wrote gitchee gitchee goo??!! #but then just #never did music again #and again did Not mention their mom
HELLO??
It's so bizarre, but my grandma said she knows Lindana. Apparently she plays in a jazz band and sometimes they play in her knitting club at the mall.
Also, her other kid showed up to the knitting club one day and proceeded to spontaneously perform an epic blues number about how much their little brothers were driving them crazy.
It was wild!
A masked figure in generic Grey sweats ran into the room and up on stage. For a second there, I thought we were about to witness some sort of crime, but then they called the lead guitarist "Mom" and laid down a couple lines.
Then the band shifted rhythm, and the kid picked up the microphone and started singing. And! They were good!
The song went so hard! It was awesome!
I wouldn't have guessed a teenager could manage vocals with that kind of deep, textural quality. (I don't know if this makes sense, but I haven't studied music, and the only word my brain wants to give me for that sound is textural).
I thought for sure it was all planned because of how naturally it flowed and how well all the musicians worked together, but apparently they're all just that good at musical improv?!
The whole family and at least some of their friends are insanely talented.

Ants be like that
I used to keep track of the different ant colonies in my yard as a child and it was the wildest shit. You could tell the difference between colonies by colors & pattern if you looked closely enough. Theyâd stage ant wars on the sidewalks that lasted days, just ants murdering each other, and the cleanup afterwards would last days longer as the survivors pick up and carry away the carcasses. Once I saw a war happening between the colony that lived under the berry bush and a colony I didnât recognize, and evidently the berry colony lost, because after the war their nest site was empty⊠and then a few days later was inhabited by the other colony that had fought them.
Once at a lake I saw an ant travel like 3 meters across flat rock carrying a dead ant, and he kept going until he got to the cliff side and then kept going down towards the water, and he didnât stop until he got to where the rock was wet. Then he stood there for a few seconds, dropped the corpse into the water, waited a little longer, and then headed back the way he came. I feel like I witnessed a ceremony
no offence but I hate when people my age start projecting their own fears and ideas about aging and youth onto me. girl sorry but Iâm young and beautiful if you think women in their late 20s onwards are worthless old hags who have run out of time thatâs a personal problem
the goal for this year and for every year is to be kind and also to stop being scared of literally everything
Dressmaking in Paris, 1907.
I would like to point out what these women are wearing themselves. Because "what did WORKING women wear?!" is a refrain I hear a lot re: recreations of even the most basic historical clothing that has any visual interest at all
the lady on the far right has a brooch and a necklace! and some insertion lace on her blouse! the center-right lady in the plaid shirtwaist seems to be wearing a decorative necktie of some sort! all of them have sleeve puffs that are maybe a few years out of date, but not by much!
and these are working seamstresses! literally At Work!
working-class people have always loved beauty just as much as the rich. and found ways to incorporate it into their lives
Virginia Postrel in her book THE SUBSTANCE OF STYLE specifically points out that ornamentation is always possible no matter how limited your resources. You might not have quite enough food, but you can still put your hair in a braid more easily than you can buy a milk cow for your family. You might have to whittle your spoons yourself from a branch foraged in the wood, but you can still carve a knotwork pattern into the handle more easily than you can learn the craft of forging metal.
A thirst for beauty isn't something limited to the rich and knowledgeable. It's something that makes us human, and I worry that people who can't accept that working class or disadvantaged people from history might have appreciated and prioritised beauty and style in their lives are also failing to accept that these people were fully human. I mean think for just a moment where this trope of the filth encrusted medieval peasant came from - it wasn't from people who respected their dignity and personhood.
Cleanliness, style, and ornament are all ways that as humans we express our dignity, and attributing filth and squalor to people is a pretty common way to deny their dignity.
Yes. Of course their lives contained beauty.

remember in 2007 or 2008 when emo was at its peak and gay marriage wasn't legal and so we had boys in eyeliner and skirts making out with each other at the mall in protest. i think we need this again
i know the floppy haired emo boys of 2006 and 2007 are in their late 30s now and perhaps even their 40s and they have jobs in tech and middle management but PLEASE. we need you. we need you to dye your hair black and put your fucking snakebites back in and paint your nails and go to the mall and kiss each other
