A Filipino engineering student named Carvey Ehren Maigue has developed new solar panels made from old fruits and vegetables. The panels are “designed to continue harvesting light even during cloudy weather. This added ability means the new panels can produce energy almost half of the time, whereas current panels only produce 15-25% of the time.” He decided to try using rotten vegetation since it was in abundance in the Philippines due to shifting weather conditions resulting from climate change.
