Runo should've been the main character. Going back she's got the most interesting stuff going on for a Main Character. She would've enjoyed kicking Spectra's ass. Remove the dumb lineage stuff from Gundalian Invaders and make it actually about strength. Ignore MS that's Dan's own AU like planet Sheen.
definitely. i understand the whole thing about dan's progression from an insensitive hothead to a more considerate and level-headed leader-type character but runo starts out way more likable and her connection to both masquerade and alice stands stronger than dan's from a narrative and thematic perspective. just see how dan treated drago in the early episodes vs how runo treated tigress.
the difference is like night and day.
dan starts out only caring about the game and couldn't care less about drago's feelings but runo is way more considerate and wants revenge not for masquerade ruining the game but to avenge her bakugan who were lost to the death dimension. her motivation for wanting revenge is already a lot more noble than dan's. there's also a stark difference between dan forcing a nickname on drago who doesn't want to be called by that name and runo giving tigress a nickname and asking if he's okay with it.
runo's love for her bakugan is ever-present in the show and even becomes the reason for her brief retirement from the game and her quest to make masquerade pay. she fears losing her bakugan more than anything because they mean so much to her.
compare this to masquerade's callousness and the way he sends his bakugan to the death dimension with no hesitation. he has no loyalty toward them and views his bakugan as disposable.
runo not only holds a big grudge on masquerade (and fears him), but she also has the closest relationship with alice, which presents the ironic situation of runo being the closest with the person she wants to get away from the most. this is even something that could influence runo's trial, that her fear of losing her loved ones shouldn't keep her from fighting for what she wants to protect.
runo was also masquerade's first on screen victim (and possible his very first victim.) they are polar opposites in their general disposition and the way they treat their bakugan, not to mention their light and dark attribute relation that pyrus conveniently stole from haos. (if this doesn't symbolize how much alicedan wants what aliceruno has lol)
the only thing really keeping runo from taking over dan's spot is the fact that drago is undeniably the main protagonist of season 1. unless runo and dan swap bakugan, there's just no way to make it work and i like tigress with runo too much to let that happen lmao.
as for the situation with spectra, i'm so mad that spectra not only got away with capturing tigress but also with kidnapping and manhandling runo specifically, with absolutely no retribution from her side. if you're not gonna let runo fuck him up then at least let baron do the honors if he can't beat spectra in a bakugan battle.
i'm also all in favor of removing the "dragon is the direct descendant of the original dragonoid" storyline because it's dumb and doesn't make sense. if the original dharaknoid created the world that split into neathia and gundalia, then why is the guardian that protects the sacred orb (dragonoid colossus) modeled after a being that had nothing to do with their dimension or their planet? why isn't it modeled after the original dharaknoid???
ms is salvageable to me. . .but only if we bring back alice. runo and the others could probably come back too but only once everything has gone to shit.
