My heavenly vessel.
Made a comic abt my experience with my severe chronic illness (myalgic encephalomyelitis) which i drew horizontal with my fingers because I'm bedbound and spent a MONTH on it and posted it on every social media and it got no motion lol so just posting it here as well😭😭😭😭😭 I just wish hard work mattered I'm just trying to raise awareness
[ID: digitally illustrated comic person coming home with groceries and giving smoothie to person lying in bed. A dialogue between the two people reads “I’m home! Ugh, sorry it took so long. I stopped downtown for treats!” ”Ooh, did you go to yummy town?” ”What? No they closed ages ago. I got smoothies though.” “Oh. … thank you.” Captions on the comic read “The hardest part of all this, has been realizing just how much the outside world has changed since I’ve last been in it.” /end ID]
hermes in hadestown is the exact opposite of an unreliable narrator. a tortured narrator. a little *too* reliable. incredibly aware of exactly what is happening at any given moment, vaguely spoiling it for you in the beginning, despairing every second of it. but ultimately motivated to continue to tell the story over and over and over with a smiling face for the sake of the audience, and for the sake of the characters themselves, singing it again to keep them alive. knowing how it will end, but singing it again so that the cycle may restart and eurydice may come back to life. enduring the misery of it all, over and over, holding the knowledge of what will come to pass but continuing anyway to see orpheus happy just one more time before it all goes down in flames again.
The following two statements are both true:
Star Trek has always been woke
Star Trek has always been corporate
Star Trek has always been internationalist
Star Trek has always been American
Star Trek has mostly been utopian
Star Trek has mostly been written by middle-class white heterosexual men

no cause sobbing in theaters and at home after watching jax get revealed to be a victim of emotional abuse who becomes a homeless transgender youth and then gets his brain copied at the height of his repression and denial and self hatred and then distances himself from everybody and becomes a caricature in order to cope with the unchangeable body he's put in within a digital landscape that changes everyday and then he kills himself AND THEN coming online to see people saying that jax just had a crush on ribbit and is totally cishet is an experience i would not recommend having
my official stance is a pregnancy is whatever the pregnant woman wants it to be. if it’s a 4 week old clump of cells and she wants to call it a baby it’s a baby. if she’s 20 weeks and she wants to call it a parasite it’s a parasite. if she’s 39 weeks and calls it a fetus it’s a fetus. “why are you so sad about miscarrying at 6 weeks it was literally just an embryo” because that was her baby. “how can you get an abortion at three months” because that wasn’t a baby. hope that helps.
This is pretty much the only take that makes any sense to me.
"It's just a lump of cells!" Doesn't matter, so am I and so are you. Abortion is morally acceptable not because of relative lumpiness but because of bodily autonomy.
Speaking of the bizarre levels of William Shatner lore (CW for a reference to RL sexual assault in the link), I genuinely find something weirdly charming about the Takei-Shatner feud in 2026.
It seems like basically everyone else made up at some point or another, but those two ancient men are like "oh yes I do recall the Horrors of the 1940s..." while also carrying on the silliest feud in show business for 60 years. It's got so many layers at this point that it's like discovering a rare and beautiful sedimentary rock formation. I feel like it'll survive them both unless Shatner's unfathomably endless well of energy is actually just derived from being George Takei's personal immortal snail.
we as a society have GOT to accept that it is okay if we get blocked. you do not have the right to interact with every single person on the internet. "but then i can't interact with their content" yes that is the point "but i didn't do anything" no one owes you an explanation and you don't have to have "done something" to be blocked. let it go
It used to be cold. There used to be all these bugs.
Maybe he understood for the first time that to the boy he was himself an alien. A being from a planet that no longer existed. The tales of which were suspect. He could not construct for the child’s pleasure the world he’d lost without constructing the loss as well and he thought perhaps the child has known this better than he.
The grass used to be green in the summer not brown
In autumn, puddles would freeze overnight, and give the sharpest, sweetest snap when you stepped on them. All gone by late morning, but reappearing the next day with sharp crinkles and chimes.
mayflies used to coat the road so thoroughly in spring that their corpses made the road more slippery than black ice.
All I remember are the live bugs. I remember driving down the highway and openethe window, hundreds brought in by the draft. Saved from being splattered on the hood and windshield. Flying awkwardly as they mated midair.
I don't remember when the last time I saw one
Why did every gas station have the windshield cleaners? Because driving down the highway resulted in your windshield getting caked with dead bugs.
There used to be winters here. Actual winters - snow so deep you had to carve through it. Snow so deep that shovelling the driveway was a day's affair, and my brother and I could hollow out the piles to make forts. Snow that you were never sure quite how deep it was, because it would compact under your boot before you reached the bottom.
This year there was not a single snowfall deep enough to survive the afternoon.
I miss Christmas beetles. They used to be so abundant we would collect them and put them on our heads until we had living crowns of gold. I haven't seen a single one in years.
God, I miss fireflies. I used to actually be a little afraid of them — when you actually looked at them, they looked like bugs, which wasn’t cancelled out by the fact that they glowed. But I still caught them out of the air, sometimes, and now they’re gone.

You don't actually have to kill your darlings. You can just put them in the oubliette #myoubliette
please read this even if you're not indian. especially if you're not indian.
you've seen the jokes. india is "dirty", indians are "everywhere", why don't they fix their own country. ok. let me tell you why, and what's happening right now while nobody's watching.
first, the history you skipped: britain ruled india for two centuries and drained it. economist utsa patnaik's research estimates around $45 trillion in today's money was taken. the india that got independence in 1947 was one of the poorest countries on earth. every "why is india like this" question starts there. you don't get to profit off a robbery and then mock the crime scene.
now, what's happening RIGHT NOW:
in may the question paper for NEET leaked. that's the national medical entrance exam. over 2.2 million students took it. cancelled. years of studying, families' savings poured into coaching, gone overnight because someone sold the paper. students died by suicide after. these were kids who wanted to be doctors.
and out of that came a protest movement. a gen z group called the cockroach janta party, started by a 30 year old named abhijeet dipke, got 22 million instagram followers within DAYS. they've been doing a sit-in at jantar mantar in delhi demanding education minister dharmendra pradhan resign.
and then there's sonam wangchuk. if you've watched 3 idiots, he's the real engineer the character was based on. built solar schools in ladakh. invented ice stupas so himalayan villages have water. spent his whole life on education. he's 59 and he's been on hunger strike for 17+ days now. reporters went to see him this week and he was too weak to talk. and the troll armies are calling him "anti national" and "foreign funded". a man starving himself for other people's children. that's the thing here, anyone who asks a question is suddenly a traitor.
it's not one incident, it's everywhere you look:
• infrastructure worth thousands of crores failing within months of the ribbon cutting. tunnels collapsing in regions where heavy rain is a guarantee, not a surprise.
• youth unemployment near 10% for ages 15 to 29, 13.6% in cities. in a country of 1.42 billion where more than half the population is young.
• only about the top 3% of indians earn above 10 lakh a year. meanwhile billionaire wealth keeps ballooning and the headlines celebrate it.
• manipur burned for over two years. an ethnic conflict, tens of thousands displaced, and the prime minister barely said the word manipur while it happened.
• journalists raided. critics' houses bulldozed. activists sitting in jail for years without trial under laws like UAPA. our press freedom ranking has cratered.
• even the petrol is a fight now, ethanol blending pushed through while drivers complain about their engines and get no straight answers.
and through all of it, the PM, who came to power on religious polarisation (americans, sound familiar?), travels abroad for photo ops and has not held one single open press conference in over a decade. not one.
what i'm asking:
if you're not indian: share this. our media mostly won't cover any of it because the big outlets are owned by the same billionaires the government serves. the only reason wangchuk's fast is getting any coverage is people refusing to look away.
if you ARE indian: speak up even if you're comfortable. especially if you're comfortable. join the protests. add to this, correct me, translate it. staying quiet is a choice when nothing in this post touches your life.
india is not "dirty". india was robbed, and it's being robbed again, from the inside this time. but it's also the country where a 59 year old will starve for strangers' kids and 22 million young people will rally behind a party literally named after cockroaches, because cockroaches survive everything.
we can still save her. but only loudly.
reblog. share. don't scroll past.
Look, they're both really bad people, but you have to admit that Shadow Weaver's sacrifice and Hordak's "I DEFY YOUR WILL" are both some truly fantastic and goosebumps inducing moments.
I'll be real honest I kind of love Shadow Weavers death SO much, like I love how it makes the relationship between her and the girls unresolved, they never talk it out, they never get to forgive or choose to never forgive her. She dies before it happens. She especially dies in a way that we have no clue what her intention was.
Did she actually want to save adore and Catra or did she just want Adora to activate the weapon so that Micah would be safe
Did Shadow Weaver actually think she was going to die when she sacrificed herself? she's definitely gotten out of worse things
Like I remember people complaining about how shadow Weaver got off scotch free, and that it's stupid that the girls forgive her after she sacrifices herself
But that's like not what happens, the girls express deep sadness because their mother figure just died, and they know she probably had bad intentions but now they'll never know
Adora and Catra will mourn shadow Weaver and the relationships they could have had with her for the rest of their lives
Shadow Weaver will always have power over them just like she wanted
And I think that's like kick ass tragic character writing
Shadow Weaver Died as she lived... Traumatizing Catra and Adora.
Pretty much every character in She-Ra has some flavor of moral lesson associated with them, and I think Shadow Weavers is straightforward and simple but very uncomfortable, so people try to map other moral lessons onto her - mostly about how Adora and Catra and Glimmer *should* react to her. But her moral lesson has nothing to do with what people ought to do with an abuser.
Shadow Weaver's moral lesson is that abusive emotional manipulation works.
The moral lesson is that there is no morally correct way to feel about this kind of emotionally manipulative abuser, because their manipulation tactics work. Especially on children and isolated people in emotionally vulnerable circumstances (isolation and vulnerability which they will create given the opportunity).
That's it. All else is commentary.
the cute slimes in fantasy-game-styled shows and such are too mammalian in their behavior imo. many slimes are absolutely adorable for sure but behaviorally they should resemble a small amphibian or maybe a slug. you're carrying your pet slime around and showing it various parts of your inn room for the night and it's staring at everything blankly with its little dot eyes and your party's fighter who is watching you asks "does it... enjoy this?" and you say "i genuinely have no idea." you can tell it's excited for mealtime because it slimes it way over to the veggie scraps 8% faster than normal. you carry it around in a repurposed orb shaped potion bottle terrarium on your belt and you drip some well water in there occasionally to keep the humidity up. the life of a slime.
and for the love of GOD if you're free roaming your slime dont YELL at it when it gets goop all over your gear!!! Healthy slimes shed!!! They're a destructive pet!! I don't want to weigh in on the terrarium vs free roam discourse because i dont have enough hours in the day but if you DO think its more ethical to free roam I ask how you think it makes sense to yell at it and then comedically stretch its 'cheeks' (its a fucking slime it doesnt have cheeks and also why would you even do that to an animal with a face) when it exhibits a natural fucking function that its KNOWN. FOR.
this is what i've been SAYING!! like, you're the one that decided to adopt a domesticated DUNGEON SCAVENGER, if you let it free roam your inn rooms or camp unattended it is going to attempt to scavenge! especially if they decided to go fully hands-off with maintenance and just "let it free feed, like it would in nature" like how did you think its "natural" feeding behavior worked. it absorbs things through its membrane! it has to crawl around and get slime on things to do that! it's in the damn name! if you wanted a clean pet you should have looked for a sprite or something.
and don't even get me started on this popular perception of slimes as completely elastic bouncy creatures that can be endlessly squashed and stretched like a stress ball. i've seen so many poor little guys with visible caving or full-on tears due to careless handling. and the treatment is so simple if you catch it early but there's just such an education gap in recognizing the early warning signs of damage. ugh.
Steph: Ready when you are Boy Wonder
Clark and Bruce walk into the Batcave to discuss a JL investigation to find Kon in a containment cell, Jason, Dick, Tim, and Damian sitting crisscross on the floor besides him, while Stephanie stands at the entrance with a lead box in hand.
Clark: is that? kryptonite? What’s going on here?
Kon (in Tim’s body): Wassup bro
Bruce: bro?
Dick: Tim and Kon got their bodies switched by a magician
Clark: Should we call—
Damian: We aren’t imbeciles Clark. We’ve already contacted the wizards. The spell will expire in a day or two.
Bruce: Good work.
Clark: So? What are you guys doing?
Jason: We’ve had a bet going that kryptonians have weak pain tolerance and that’s why green kryptonite affects you guys so badly. cause your wusses.
Superman: So your.. gonna torture Tim to find out?
Stephanie: Not torture. Experiment.
Dick: We are trying to figure out where kryptonite exposure feels like on a scale of 1-10
Cass: Face Punch to waterboarding
Clark: ..
Dick: I have money on it being a solid 7
Jason: Tim and I put money on 5.
Clark: This is ridiculous. Tim get out of there. Stephanie bring me the Kryptonite.
Tim (in kons body): Nah this is completely consensual don’t worry, we have a safe word and everything. I’ve been waiting for a chance like this forever. No way am I gonna miss out.
Clark: Bruce, do something
Bruce: ..
Dick: *laughing* You forget who made us this way
Stephanie enters the containment cell and opens the box. Tim(in Kons body) stiffens for a moment, then takes a deep breath. He stands up and gets closer and closer to Stephanie, his breath getting a tiny bit more ragged as he eventually reaches over to close the box.
Jason: Well?
Tim: The pain is proportionate to its proximity. Initial exposure felt like a 4–broken ribs but steadily increased to a 6— full body electrocution as I grew closer. Nausea and a headache are also present symptoms.
Damian: Hmm. The effects have been greatly exaggerated. I assumed it would have felt like being set aflame.
Kon: In my defense, i’m technically only 4 years old.
Tim: We could probably work on you guys’ pain tolerance a bit with a red sun lamp to get you more accustomed to discomfort
Bruce, squinting at Clark: Hmm
Clark: I’m going home
1. “Raven” was an occasionally-encountered name for a girl in the contemporary period, and “Ebony” would be at least recognizable as a name. The other elements of this name are flatly atypical.
2. During this part of the War Period, this character’s hairstyle would not be considered shocking, but it would be viewed as garish and nonconformist.
3. A contemporary music performer known for a melancholy style of music and a gothic and dramatic aesthetic. The title of the work probably comes from one of her songs. However, her aesthetic and attitude has little in common with that in this work, being much more conventional and less garish.
4. A member of the contemporary band “My Chemical Romance”, also notable for a “gothic”, melancholy, and macabre aesthetic
5. i.e. the speaker considers him to be handsome and attractive; despite the pornographic material later in this work, the word “f_______” is here used only as an expletive.
6. Vampires as romantic figures had been increasing in popularity over this period, with a trend away from malicious monsters towards seductive but more benevolent figures, romanticized by their capability of being terrible.
7. Strangely, despite the characterization of this character as a Satanist, “witch” should here be characterized as having meaning similar to “wizard” and not “idolater”, “sorceress”, “maleficar”, or other practitioner of what we today recognize as “witchcraft”. The background material to this work constantly faced accusations of being satanic by an uneducated reactionary public to whom the difference between technology, wizardry and witchcraft was not meaningful (”witch” was sometimes even considered a female equivalent to “wizard”!), which completely failed to diminish its popularity.
8. It is important to understand that “goth” as an aesthetic, counterculture or subculture had a completely different meaning in the contemporary period than it does today – what remains similar is the love of the melancholy, the macabre, the dramatic, the romantic, and contempt for conventionalism. In the mid-to-early-late War Period, “Gothic” people were associated with contempt for morality, certain types of sexual display (usually of a shocking and sometimes fetishistic type), various forms of concupiscence, and a fairly significant connection to the occult and even to outright Satanism, though the latter was all but universally an affectation (this is true of most Mid War Period satanism). See contrast on p 321, The Gothic Movement In the Catholic Church. Moreover, the “gothic” aesthetic as described by this character is a stunted and over-the-top form that has also been corrupted by the counterculture-commericalism that was universal in the Late War Period.
9. A clothing store mostly specializing in counterculture-commercialized and faddist apparel. Critics accused it of being a mercantile vulture that fed by turning more honest and vivacious countercultures into fads.
10. It was almost unheard-of for women in the Mid or Late War Period to wear corsets, but they appeared in the Gothic subculture (which itself heavily borrowed from sources such as Victorian-era clothing, including mourning dress). However, what Enoby is describing is probably not actually a true corset, but a “corset top”, which is essentially a laced bodice. Either would be worn with neither chemise nor overblouse.
11. Probably a nondraped skirt that barely passes her wrist.
12. Hose, stockings, or tights in the form of a wide-open mesh
13. Probably not actually military issue boots; these were tall, heavy black leather boots with lacing all the way up.
14. This character’s outfit would be considered inappropriate for school in the Late War Period, but not shocking to Late War Period mores except by its garishness.
15. Originally meant students at a university-preparatory school; with the extremely high percentage of students seeking to attend university in the Late War Period, this came to mean a subculture of young people who adopted a highly conventionalistic and professionalistic attitude and sought admission to the prestigious and traditionalistic universities in the Eastern United States, often without academics being their true passion. Such people were often viewed as social climbers and sometimes attracted contempt from both their less-professionally-oriented peers and from those who were true intellectuals.
16. Also known as “giving the finger”; a very rude gesture in the War Period as it is in ours.
18. This phrase went through considerable popular memetic mutation (as did the entire tract): “It was _______ <weather> so I felt ________. A lot of _______ stared at me. I ________ them.” See extra material 34c.
17. I.E. “How are you today?”, “how are you feeling?” as a greeting.
