If you ship Gwen and Miles, more power to you, you do you as long as youre not hurting (harassing) anyone
But MAN, it is so disappointing for both the story as a whole and for Gwen’s character that she “falls in love” with the first guy she befriends after swearing off friends ://
If you feel otherwise, more power to you! And with all due respect I don’t wanna hear about it! I came to tumblr to indulge further into my special interest for comfort, not to debate my feelings + opinions on it. With that disclaimer out of the way, under the keep reading is where I expand upon the previous take.
ITSV sets them up as friends and presents wonderful heartfelt themes about love for friends, family, and especially for father figures. And ATSV continues that! But then also adds in a forced romance? And I mean this so respectfully because I hate arguing with people, but if I see one more person call them a “well written slow burn” (they always call it specifically that) I am going to LOSE MY MIND
Gwen does Miles SO inexplicably dirty in ways that she absolutely did not/had the ability not to! Ignoring her position/pressure in the Spider-Society!

Well sorry but I really feel like they did that poorly. Apparently in ITSV they had four hours on the bus to talk and get to know each other? Would have been cool if that was expanded upon even a little! Or shown slightly more than it was cause I truly had no idea!

Okay, could they have done that without doing the romance so poorly? Again, I wanna really like Gwen as much as other people do and just feel normal but I cannot get over how instantly it feels she goes from “I don’t do friends, but maybe now I do because of Miles!” to “I am deeply in love with Miles and am willing to risk so many things to see him” from what we’re shown. We’re not shown enough! And it makes me so mad! We deserve better!
If Gwen had fallen for a girl, I could forgive all of that because same lol, but nah, they can’t do that 🫠🫠
One time I came home from uni very upset and my younger siblings asked what's wrong. I said that mutated flies in our lab escaped because someone broke their jar. I didn't even realise how scary it sounded to them until I saw their faces lmao. I was upset because we were short on said flies (they don't reproduce very well) and my siblings thought that some crazy radioactive fly monsters escaped and we are all fucked now. Love being a mad scientist in their eyes lowkey

the whole "insulting someone based on their appearance is bad because it could indirectly hurt people you like who share that feature" is a good start for unlearning body shaming but i do think we need to go further and remind people that even if there was some physical trait that was magically 10000% exclusive to conservatives and creeps and nobody else ever had it, we still shouldnt be insulting them based on that. because the problem with them is not their appearance its their ideology and actions. by insulting their appearance you arent just indirectly insulting others who look like that, youre literally not making the correct point. stay on topic ya know.

ive been called a tranny more times than i can count. i was extremely bullied throughout my teen years. Because im transgender. and the Main Descriptor other people used for me was "tranny". just because a slur was made to affect one group doesnt mean it cant be used towards and affect other groups. we're all trannies so lets hold hands and sing together Okay ❤️

HAH! Of course they made this scene about Jax after everything
We thought we had a scene about Ragatha, but naaah we made it about Jax, because hey, we know that Ragatha has mommy issues and everything and the way she acts is because of he trauma, but naaaaaah.....let's use this scene as a way to reveal Ragatha's trauma and then say "Hey! By the way, Jax also has mommy issues! You should feel bad for Jax!".
It feels like the whole scene is about wanting us to know that Jax also had a bad relationship with his mother and then Goos didn't know how the rest should react to Ragatha talking about her trauma, so after they were done with making us feel bad for Jax, they made the scene go like this:
Because yeah...who cares about Ragatha? This whole scene was about our pookie Jax anyway.
