If you ship Gwen and Miles, more power to you, you do you as long as youre not hurting (harassing) anyone
But MAN, it is so disappointing for both the story as a whole and for Gwen’s character that she “falls in love” with the first guy she befriends after swearing off friends ://

ITSV sets them up as friends and presents wonderful heartfelt themes about love for friends, family, and especially for father figures. And ATSV continues that! But then also adds in a forced romance? And I mean this so respectfully because I hate arguing with people, but if I see one more person call them a “well written slow burn” (they always call it specifically that) I am going to LOSE MY MIND
Gwen does Miles SO inexplicably dirty in ways that she absolutely did not/had the ability not to! Ignoring her position/pressure in the Spider-Society!

Well sorry but I really feel like they did that poorly. Apparently in ITSV they had four hours on the bus to talk and get to know each other? Would have been cool if that was expanded upon even a little! Or shown slightly more than it was cause I truly had no idea!

Okay, could they have done that without doing the romance so poorly? Again, I wanna really like Gwen as much as other people do and just feel normal but I cannot get over how instantly it feels she goes from “I don’t do friends, but maybe now I do because of Miles!” to “I am deeply in love with Miles and am willing to risk so many things to see him” from what we’re shown. We’re not shown enough! And it makes me so mad! We deserve better!
If Gwen had fallen for a girl, I could forgive all of that because same lol, but nah, they can’t do that 🫠🫠
it's almost as if a lot of the transphobia trans men and transmascs face was affected and exacerbated by misogyny, and vice versa, to the point where it could be hard or impossible to draw a clean line between them. it's almost like there was some kind of overlap.. an intersection even... i wonder what that could be called? if only there were a word for it. sighs
the idea that a sex scene in fiction is fundamentally useless/simply for audience titillation UNLESS they’re fucking infodumping exposition while they bone or something is so funny and myopic to me. like, you really genuinely believe for real that there is NOTHING to be gained about your understanding of a story or characters simply from how they approach and engage in sex? really for real?

Hi! Is it generally considered offensive for supernatural beings to appear as Black people/with Black features by choice? I tried to google it but no matter what I searched, even when I used direct examples of this happening, like the speed force in the flash(2014) appearing as Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) to Barry Allen, etc, the search results just gave me random or only marginally adjacent topics.
I think that if they are an alien species, it's fine. I find it weirder when they are white, or "look white" as aliens, then make the change. But even then, it can all depend on the writing.
i thought we were hating on the nolan odyssey because the costumes are not historically accurate, the actors are english/american and speak with those accents, the english translation they chose is waaayy to modern to be believable in a film, there is a distinct lack of color in the trailers in both clothing and editing (colors are SO important for depicting status from the dye trade), and it completely fails to capture the broken-hearted whimsey of the original epic. but NO. turns out people are being RACIST??? bro this is so fucking stupid. we are NOT the same. i will hate on my own terms.
