âI like clothes now. I have more energy. I sleep better. My sex drive is up. Bloodâs flowing. Iâm less susceptible to impulse. Iâm in a different mode. When I was way out of shape, the idea of using whitening strips on my teeth seemed terrible. I have to do that every day? Iâll never do it. What you want is instant results when youâre out of shape. You want your teeth whitened in 45 minutes with the use of lasers. But when youâre in shape, you know itâs the result of doing a little bit every day. Moments arenât just moments. A moment might be a week or a month. So instead of Boy, Iâd love to eat this hamburger right now, Iâm considering a little further into the future. Iâm thinking, I eat that hamburger and thatâs 1,200 calories, and Iâm gonna work out tomorrow and lose 800 calories. I may as well eat a salad here, still do that workout, and then Iâm actually making progress.â â Chris Pratt

Heâs right. Since Iâve been going to the gym regularly I am very aware of what I eat and make different choices than I used to.
I just need to get back running again. Then I find it so easy to focus on eating the right stuff. :)

I'm confused about what Beethoven was doing in the black composers post. He was German.
By golly gee! I keep forgetting that Black people didnât exist until the Fresh Prince of Bel Air came on television! Or that Black people existed in anywhere else than Africa even with slavery going on :) My apologies.
Anyway, hereâs proof that Beethoven was Black:
"âŠÂ Said directly, Beethoven was a black man. Specifically, his mother was a Moor, that group of Muslim Northern Africans who conquered parts of Europeâmaking Spain their capitalâfor some 800 years.
In order to make such a substantial statement, presentation of verifiable evidence is compulsory. Letâs start with what some of Beethovenâs contemporaries and biographers say about his brown complexion:
(Louis Letronne, Beethoven, 1814, pencil drawing.)
"Frederick Hertz, German anthropologist, used these terms to describe him: âNegroid traits, dark skin, flat, thick nose.â
Emil Ludwig, in his book âBeethoven,â says: âHis face reveals no trace of the German. He was so dark that people dubbed him Spagnol [dark-skinned].â
Fanny Giannatasio del Rio, in her book âAn Unrequited Love: An Episode in the Life of Beethoven,â wrote âHis somewhat flat broad nose and rather wide mouth, his small piercing eyes and swarthy [dark] complexion, pockmarked into the bargain, gave him a strong resemblance to a mulatto.â
Beethovenâs death mask: profile and full face
C. Czerny stated, âHis beardâhe had not shaved for several daysâmade the lower part of his already brown face still darker.â
Following are one word descriptions of Beethoven from various writers: Grillparzer, âdarkâ; Bettina von Armin, âbrownâ; Schindler, âred and brownâ; Rellstab, âbrownishâ; Gelinek, âshort, dark.â
In Alexander Thayerâs Life of Beethoven, vol.1, p. 134, the author states, âthere is none of that obscurity which exalts one to write history as he would have it and not as it really was. The facts are too patent.â On this same page, he states that the German composer Franz Josef Haydn was referred to as a âMoorâ by Prince Esterhazy, and Beethoven had âeven more of the Moor in his looks.â On p. 72, a Beethoven contemporary, Gottfried Fischer, describes him as round-nosed and of dark complexion. Also, he was called âder Spagnolâ (the Spaniard).
Other âpatentâ sources, of which there are many, include, but are not limited to, Beethoven by Maynard Solomon, p.78. He is described as having âthick, bristly coal-black hairâ (in todayâs parlance, we proudly call it âkinkyâ) and a âruddy-complexioned face.â In   Beethoven: His Life and Times by Artes Orga, p.72, Beethovenâs pupil, Carl Czerny of the âSchool of Velocityâ fame, recalls that Beethovenâs âcoal-black hair, cut a la Titus, stood up around his head [sounds almost like an Afro]. His black beardâŠdarkened the lower part of his dark-complexioned face.â
Engraving by Blasius Hofel, Beethoven, 1814, color facsimile of engraving after a pencil drawing by Louis Letronne. This engraving was regarded in Beethovenâs circle as particularly lifelike. Beethoven himself thought highly of it, and gave several copies to his friends.

They whitewashed BEETHOVEN? O_O
Thank you, history/fact-checking Tumblr.
I now feel the need to go burn every white-skinned image of Beethoven I can find.
beethoven was totally black! how do people not know this?
jk because erasure
I have been playing Beethovenâs music for 10+ years now and had absolutely no idea he was black. My life has been a lie.
OH MY GOD HOLY SHIT. I HAVE A BACHELOR DEGREE IN MUSIC, MY MAJOR WAS âMUSIC HISTORY, THEORY, AND LITERATUREâ I TOOK MULTIPLE CLASSES SPECIFICALLY IN BEETHOVENâS STRING QUARTETS AND MY SCHOOL HAD AN INTERNATIONAL BEETHOVEN SYMPOSIUM WHERE THERE WERE PAPERS ON THINGS LIKE THE KIND OF FUCKING PAAAAAAPER HE DID HIS MANUSCRIPTS ON, IN DIFFERENT CITIES, TO SEE WHERE AND WHEN HE WROTE SPECIFIC SNIPPETS OF MUSIC. NEVER IN MY EDUCATION OR READINGS DID I EITHER A) NOTICE THIS B) WAS SPECIFICALLY TOLD THIS. I think thereâs a combination of systemic racism in this, and my own internalized racism. I have, in fact, read Maynard Solomonâs biography and didnât pick up on this. I have read the Czerny sources as well. My Beethoven teacher (Bill Kinderman) is one of the top Beethoven scholars in the world, and I donât remember hearing any of this from him. I even did a semester of graduate work in musicology, specifically focusing on the Beethoven string quartets (I really fucking love those things) and we never spoke about this. I cannot say I am in any way surprised at this. I am embarrassed, angry, and upset that this was erased from my DECADES of music education. Which doesnât surprise me at all, because classical music is very specifically in our culture for white people, especially men, especially upper class white men. Oof, this one is going to take a while to fully fucking digest, I am in angry tears.
Holy shit. One of the greatest musical minds of all time and he got whitewashed.
The truth needs to be spread.
Johnny Carson voice: âI did not know that.â
This isnât the first time that Iâve read on tumblr that Beethoven was black, but I feel compelled to reblog it now because casually scrolling past evidence of erasure and noting it is not enough. Iâd love to see a documentary about this.

So I NEVER make new years resolutions.Â
However.
I have decided that this is the year I get my body back.
Weight doesnt matter. Its inches I want lost.
I have no point measuring weight as thanks to rugby player legs (and arms) im always gonna weigh more than normal cause of muscle tone.
Rape has become endemic in South Africa, so a medical technician named Sonette Ehlers developed a product that immediately gathered national attention there. Ehlers had never forgotten a rape victim telling her forlornly, âIf only I had teeth down there.â
Some time afterward, a man came into the hospital where Ehlers works in excruciating pain because his penis was stuck in his pants zipper.
Ehlers merged those images and came up with a product she called Rapex. It resembles a tube, with barbs inside. The woman inserts it like a tampon, with an applicator, and any man who tries to rape the woman impales himself on the barbs and must go to an emergency room to have the Rapex removed.
When critics complained that it was a medieval punishment, Ehlers replied tersely, âA medieval device for a medieval deed.âÂ

Can we talk about how beautifully this turns rape culture on its head? Instead of âIf they werenât dressed like that they wouldnât have been rapedâ THIS IS LITERALLY âIF THEY HADNâT TRIED TO RAPE SOMEONE THEY Â WOULDNâT HAVE SPIKES IN THEIR DICKâ*
almost everyone I tell about thus go âits so cruel! Its inhumane!â whAT IS RAPE THEN!?!

Macken's Marvellously Mysterious Movie
COLD IS JUST SO BEAUTIFULLY PRETTY.Â
Everyone clearly worked so very hard on it. And as usual for a Blank Canvas Pictures production there are a few twists along the way. I'm not saying anything more about any plot points.Â
Eoin as director, writer and actor probably deserves a major slice of the praise. The script that stayed in was amazing, and almost had me weeping at points. Almost. You'll See. {cue ominous music}
Tom is a revelation, well, we all knew he could do it. But Eoin has written a great part for Tom to show some of his range. Emotions, words, a distinct lack of guns, all combine to break right on through that muscle man type casting.Â
I would say i hope Jack Reynor does well... but... he's already doing well.Â
The music is just sublime. Kevin has just done a stellar job, and the Evora songs fit in perfectly.
Eimear's work is just gorgeous. I hope she has a big future ahead of her.Â
As with everything else there are so many others who worked on it. Eoin dragged them all up onstage with him at the end last night. And they deserved all the praise he lauded on them.
I cant wait for others to see this film.Â
I'll rephrase...
EVERYONE NEEDS TO SEE THIS FILM!!!
