before you start babygirling oppenheimer just know that from what i’ve heard the film does not address downwinders, does not have a singular japanese person in it, and exploited our museums by claiming photos on loan for personal use (meaning they did not have to pay a penny to use them in the film despite being a multi-million dollar production).

I’m going to say it, even though it probably has been said. The bomb was tested in New Mexico. Nary a New Mexican has been consulted or the years long environmental consequences that weren’t that much lesser than Japan acknowledged, and people that suffered from the deathly rippling of the bombings are still alive.

There’s this website-I mean, scientific organization called the Holotypic Occlupanid Reasurch Group.

They are a group of abiologists who study and classify Bread clips.

Apparently HORG is widely appreciated by pediatricians since knowing exactly what kind of Occlupanid a child may have swallowed makes removing it safely much easier

IIRC this is actually part of the reason HORG was started. A man swallowed a breadclip and the clip closed around part of his tissue linings (in his intestines I think?). The specific shape and flexibility of the clip were significant determining factors in the removal process, as some bread clips have spikes and prongs that would have made extraction more complicated. They started the taxonomy so they could work out extraction techniques for each type.

Been reading about various weird species (for character reasons) lately, and there’s a lot of species of invertebrate or plants that are dioecious/ have separate male and female organisms that you would never expect.

The vast majority of echinoderms (starfish, sea urchins, sea cucumbers etc) .

Half of snails and slugs, which feels weird cause the vast majority of terrestrial species don’t.

Mistletoe, holly, willow, kiwis, spinach, cannabis etc.

Quaking aspens (Pando is apparently male)

Portuguese man-o-wars??? They are colonial organisms with zooids that are used soley for reproduction but but an “individual” colony is either male or female

Box Jellyfish, who I recently found out don’t fertilize externally like most other cnidarians but instead the male inseminates the female and is also ovoviviparoous and gives live birth (to very tiny larva but still not what I expected..)
