some of you are activists because you hate the oppressors rather than love the oppressed. and it shows
Not that hate is wrong, it can be an important and valid emotion. But if you're celebrating a victory because it pissed someone off, not because it made someone's life better, you probably aren't helping as much as you think
Alright, shit just hasn't been getting better, but I at least have an opportunity to leave for a relatively safer place. Utah is a real ass-kicker of a state to be, especially as an exmormon trans woman, so if y'all can help get me and my wife out of Utah and to Seatle (which also has the benefit of being close to the Canadian border if things goes real south) that'd be amazing! Even if you can't donate please spread this around. We have 2 months to get $3k to cover moving expenses.
Hi, my name's Ari. Because of how things are for trans women in Utah,… Ari Wadzeck needs your support for Help Ari and Emilia get out of Uta

At the local hamburger shop and they said yelled out “order 167!” And three middle school age kids yelled in perfect unison “ 6 7!” Life is sometimes so beautiful
If you reference 67 you deserve to be executed on the spot tbh
If I was king for a day the first thing I would do would be to sentence you to a life full of love and understanding.

Lil Nas X gives a life update.
I saw his smile and immediately assumed he was gonna tell us he was with somebody now but I think I misinterpreted, he's actually falling in love with himself
DISCLOSURE DAY WAS COOL THOUGHHHHHH
tadc episode 9 was kinda mid, caine getting a redemption arc out of nowhere made the ending unsatisfying however Jax's flashbacks were fucking incredible.

The ruling will have enormous impacts for transgender residents in the state.
HOLY SHIT
"The Montana court separately declared that transgender people constitute a suspect class under the state's equal protection clause. In legal terms, a suspect class is a group that has historically faced such severe discrimination that any law targeting them must meet the highest level of judicial scrutiny to survive—the same standard applied to laws that discriminate on the basis of race. [...] The practical effect is sweeping: any Montana law that singles out transgender people will now face strict scrutiny, meaning the state must prove the law serves a compelling interest and is narrowly tailored to achieve it—a standard that laws almost never survive.
"Because the decision rests entirely on the Montana Constitution, it is insulated from the U.S. Supreme Court. Under the principle of adequate and independent state grounds, the federal Supreme Court cannot review a state court's interpretation of its own constitution, so long as that constitution provides more protection than the federal one. [...] What this means in practice is that Montana's transgender residents now have a constitutional shield completely independent of the Supreme Court of the United State’s decisions."

jeez. sorry you didn't like it.
Brandon Sanderson is interesting because in the majority of his body of work (especially his main cosmere universe) he kind of sits down across from you and says,
"Listen, even if an omniscient God or a godlike being is real, most religions are built on only a bit of truth and mostly upon myths designed to keep order among the populace. This order creates, designs, and enforces rigid roles for racism, classism, sexism, and homophobia. It excuses and handwaves, if not outright encourages, colonialism and oppression."
and you're like "Mr. Sanderson, aren't you a card carrying member of the Church of Jesus Christ and the Latter Day Saints?"
and he's like "don't worry about that"
Sanderson feels like a morally ambiguous oc I would make up and rotate in my head. The author whose writing nearly directly contradicts his faith??? Applauds and acknowledges oppressed groups while sitting in the house of the oppressors????? FUCK YEAH thats crunchy as hell, he is a more interesting character than most characters he writes about
I’m every one in this
MAN 1 (in a high pitched, whiny voice) Look what you’ve done to my peonies!
WOMAN (angrily) They’re marigolds!
MAN 2 God! I think she’s right! They are marigolds!
MAN 1 I may not know my flowers, but I know a (yells in her direction) bitch when I see one!
It’s back!
I looked this up because I had to know what it’s from. It’s a film called The Gay Deceivers (1969), and it’s about two straight men who, seeking to avoid the draft, claim to be gay, but then have to keep up the pretense when the army places them under surveillance.
The man in the red cardigan in the clip was played by Michael Greer, who was openly gay himself - unusual for the time. He actually worked closely with the director and rewrote much of the film’s dialogue to reduce the homophobia and make it more realistic. As a result it’s quite progressive for its time, having a gay character, played by a gay man, living in a happy same-sex relationship, which is more than a lot of media offers us today.
Plus the clip is delightful.
I just looked it up on wikipedia and fucking
The twist is that even after the pair is caught, they are not inducted into the military. The Army investigators assigned to watch them are themselves gay and are trying to keep straight people out of the Army.
