Fic recs (based on which of my fics you like)
(Will be updated as I encounter/remember fics and as my ongoing fics change. Also as my mind changes. This is a living document.)
Working Title:
1) Straight on 'til Morning by merils A Brilliant work that tackles realising you were groomed, developing feelings for your best friend, and never having gotten to be a kid. It's a capes story but it's exploration of grooming and amazing characterisation of the young justice friend group make it a good read for anyone who likes those elements of Working Title. 2) Frequency by Cryptocism An Absolutely Brilliant Bart and Thad fic. Anyone who gets excited by Bart being in Working Title, read this. And if you really got excited when Thad was mentioned, definitely read this. It's a brilliant capes fic about identity, purpose, and choice. 3) Detective Timothy Drake and the Mysterious Case of the Unclaimed Dildo by JpegDotJpeg One of my favourite young justice fics. It's just a silly little fic that gets their dynamic So Right. If you enjoy the young justice dynamic in Working Title, specifically the silly moments, this is a great example of that as adults.
Dear Connor Murphy - A rewrite of DEH:
1) The Desperate Type by chchchchcherrybomb It's gay, it's sad, it's in the fandom. To be honest, I have not read very many Dear Evan Hansen fics and I was never in the fandom, I was just... a musical nerd who got really into a joke about how much better DEH would be if it was gay. A friend sent this one to me as an example of fics he used to read. I read it and enjoyed it though so if you are a fan, give it a look.
An Extended Holiday at Luthor Island:
1) Baby, Talk Me Down (Take Me Out) by sage (lemontongues) A fic about Tim going to stay at the Kent's farm for a bit. While it has very few similar elements to being stranded on an island, it does include a lot of focus on Kon's family and friends which I really appreciate! Including Lex's bad parenting. A capes story that holds similar themes.
It'll all end in a funeral:
1) Infinity Times Infinity Times Infinity by sepia_stained_sunset A horrifying time loop that explores grief. Not connected to young justice but a great Tim fic that really touches on the desperate feelings associated with grief. 2) The Science of Falling Apart (and the Art of Being Found) by NocturnalAnomaly Currently unfinished but another great Tim fic. This one focuses on substance abuse in a way that is probably way more realistic than It'll all end in a funeral. I wrote It'll all end in a funeral when I was grieving and in a really bad place and trying to keep myself from just... giving in to self destruction. This fic covers a lot of the themes of substance abuse I wish I had done. Read this if you want family hurt/comfort, sex as self-harm and distraction, and Tim Drake getting fucked up on drugs. 3) [trying to remember fics with a focus on grief or substance abuse in the young justice perspective but I didn't bookmark them so stay tuned]
Following Through (because he was definitely Not Bluffing):
1) A Long Time Coming by malevolentmango Pretty similar concept but ~longer~. No bone fucking through, just lots of tentacles. Kravitz perspective.
