With every new day comes new strength.. http://ift.tt/2p2aZ1K
I'm gonna try
If you’re trying to recover from an addiction, I want you to know you’re incredibly strong and brave. I know this isn’t easy, I really do, and you’re truly incredible, even if you relapsed. Keep it up, I’m proud of you
Declutter your life it's part of recovery. Set boundaries for those who are toxic (like my mother) and kick the ones who don't respect those boundaries out of your life! (Ahem, like family members if need be)
Omg I love this!
FIRST STEP IN RECOVERY IS TELLING YOURSELF THIS!
Do you ever add silly things to your to Do list so you feel like life isn't as hard as it seems. Like today I put make coffee and then later down the list I wrote drink coffee. I feel good about today 😀
If you get in a wreck and total your car, break some ribs and leg bone and hit your head, you then are in despair. Time goes by and you start to heal. You have anger and anxiety. The guy driving the other car hit you. You have resentment. The insurance is slow to pay, you got more anger and resentment. Being in a car is scary, you are not sure what to do with your life. Later down the road your leg heals but it's hard to walk on. You didn't go to physical therapy. Your car can run but it's trashed. You decide I'm just not gonna drive anymore. This is equal to a person who goes to AA for the bad coffee. This is also equal to the dry addict or drunk. If you don't work the steps ( exercise the broken parts to heal properly) if you don't humble yourself and admit the problems, your not recovering. Putting the beer or dope away ( deciding not to drive anymore) doesn't make you recover. Recovery is so much more then walking away. It's a new way of life.

Reason #1012
I want to recover to learn how to manage stress rather than let it consume me
Rock bottom can be a lonely place. At this point a lot of us have lost everything. Our families don't trust us anymore, we spend most of our money (if not all) chasing our addiction, and our mental health is taking a bad turn. The good thing about rock bottom is someone who is in a program will hand you the tools to get out and show you how to use them. It's up to the addict to use such tools. When we do this work, we realize we are not hopeless. There is a way to turn your life around. A life that you can lose if you lose your bottom.
My name is Ali and I'm a alcoholic
I promise.
