Okay but
Most effective pesticide: Philadelphians
Context for those unaware: spotted lanternflies are highly invasive all across North America, the Koreas, and Japan as they are not native there (they’re native to parts of China). While they are harmless to humans and animals, they can be highly dangerous and destructive to indigenous plant life and have no natural predators outside their native habitat.
If you see them outside of China, stomp em on sight.
I keep thinking abt this comment and giggling
This guy (gray catbird) at the open mic night (my front porch) won't stop doing his fucking impressions (american robin, house sparrow, and cardinal)
his impressions are big hits with the crowd (other catbird) though
he tested out some new material (european starling, red-winged blackbird) at the end of his set
can I get a job as an editor but the only thing I do is correct when someone uses the word "prone" when they mean "supine"
thank you wikipedia for this really good image
a helpful mnemonic for everyone
grabs your hand. you've had enough plot and exposition and character development lately im taking you to the beach episode
i hope i never ever ever see this image while im high or it will also straight up kill me. it would make me so scared my skeleton would run away And id be a boneless scared heap on the ground
Reading a book about slavery in the middle-ages, and as the author sorts through different source materials from different eras, I am starting to understand why so many completely fantastical accounts of "faraway lands" went without as much as a shrug. The world is such a weird place that you can either refuse to believe any of it or just go "yeah that might as well happen" and carry on with your day.
There was this 10th century arab traveller who wrote into an account that the fine trade furs come from a land where the night only lasts one hour in the summer and the sun doesn't rise at all in the winter, people use dogs to travel, and where children have white hair. I don't think I'd believe something like that either if I didn't live here.
spiders have got to figure out contracting I need to be able to call my local spiders union and be like "hey can you send a guy out for a few days the fruit flies are back" and then pay it in spider currency. I'll learn the conversion rates. I'll be generous with my rounding. please.
the humble "like" is oft mocked despite what it does for us. "like, three people" is a vastly different statement from "three people". "and i was like 'what the fuck'" is vastly different from "and i said 'what the fuck'". i love you "like" and anyone who says you make people sound stupid will be killed on sight
early to bed and early to rise leaves a man so fucked up that he dies
