and then one night you wake up to the faint creaking of your bedroom door and soft footsteps across the carpet. you'd been sleeping deep - you're out of it and not really thinking, so when you hear your younger sibling say they had a nightmare, you forget to question it, forget that they haven't snuck into your bed out of fear in years at this point. you lift the covers without opening your eyes, feel the mattress dip, and you drop your arm, expecting to feel - something. pajamas, maybe. a tank top. you don't. you drop your arm and you feel skin, you feel skin and you move your hand down because you must have just landed in an awkward spot but it doesn't change, it's just smooth and warm and fuck, fuck they're naked and before you can pull away in panicked arousal they grab your wrist and drag your hand lower and you think to yourself oh. oh, this was always going to happen, wasn't it?
