Why write nesta being shouted at by Rhys and utterly miserable in the bonus chapter where Bryce’s mum has to step in to defend her to then say Nessian are true mates? 😭
New theory: an editor wrote the bonus chapter knowing sjm wasn’t going to read the published works
Normally Shane doesn't meet Ilya's eyes during their face-offs.
But in the last one he not only catches his eye but he *smiles* and Ilya fucking *melts*.
Ilya knows by this point eye contact does not come naturally to Shane so seeing him actively seek it out and seem so comfortable and relaxed probably made Ilya feel all warm and fuzzy.
Bob: I did something terrible.
Yelena: It's okay! I have a shovel!
Bob: Wait, what? What do you think I did?
Yelena: Doesn't matter! No one will ever know!
so many of the issues with acotar could be solved by not making them over 500 years old. literally make them like 100 maximum
rhys has done jack shit to improve his court - makes more sense if he was hardly a man when he becomes high lord and is imprisoned for 50 years
mor is still deeply disturbed by the hewn city - makes more sense if it only happened fairly recently
azriel still having issues with sleep, trust, trauma - makes more sense if it is recent and he's still adjusting to not being locked up
cassian struggling with being a bastard and commander - makes more sense if he's recently in the role and most soldiers still remember him as an orphaned boy fighting for scraps of food
they literally have no friends or contacts beyond their own incestuous group which would be more believable if they were younger and had been trapped in velaris for 50 years rather than being dinosaurs who nobody likes lmao
none of them have the wisdom or maturity to be 500 either
I love how Nesta, Gwyn, and Emerie share their past traumas with each other during the Blood Rite, letting each other see the broken pieces of them.
What I hate is that Nesta summarizes her trauma as drinking, sleeping around, and becoming a wretch. In Nesta's own book, she never tells a single soul of the physical and emotional abuse she endured at the hands of her grandmamma. She never tells anyone about Tomas attempting to rape her, or about being sexually assaulted by the kelpie. She barely talks about the torture inside the Cauldron as she was turned High Fae. She never tells anyone of her terror of bathtubs afterward, or how she overcame that trauma on her own. She barely mentions her discomfort around fires, but yet it was still a trauma she overcame on her own.
Nesta has endured so much trauma since childhood, but all her book talks about is the people she's failed. What about those who have failed her?
We don't talk enough about how funny the dreamer shit in ACOTAR is. The IC are all sitting around acting like they're these underdogs when they are literally the government. Wdym you're dreaming of a better world... that's your fuckin job. Get to it, chop chop!
cassian: why the heck would mortals hate the fae?????
cassian a few pages earlier:
"Do you think we're together in another universe?"
The other universe:
Another comment I made on Tik Tok with a funny reply:
Man, Rhysand was never the dreamer in that god awful series. It was always Tamlin
Tamlin is the one who has always done everything he can do to stop injustice. Protecting mortals, always accepting fae from other court in his land, trying his damnedest to find a way to break the curse instead of stealing a mortal. He has always dreamed of a safer and more just world and has always tried to make that come true. Even after loosing so much he always did whats right and true in the end.
but hes doomed by the narrative. His good deeds and genuine soul over shadowed by the biases of the narrator. Hes the age old tragedy of wanting to be the best he can and do the best he can.
It’s funny how feyre got so upset at lucien for “choosing” tamlin and not doing more for her when tamlin became overcontrolling ,yet when the IC chose rhys and didn’t tell her about the dangers of her own pregnancy it was totally cool and ok 🤨?
And I knew that if ... that if I had been wasting away and Rhys had done nothing to stop it, Cassian or Azriel would have pulled me out. They would have taken me somewhere —wherever I needed to be —and dealt with Rhys later.
Funny you say that feyre because those same friends were willing to watch you go through the pregnancy completely oblivious to the fact that you’re gonna die because rhys told them to keep it from you.Despite feyre being their high lady and family, they chose to listen to rhys because they’re rhys’s friends above all🤷.
Lucien gets so much shit for being “tamlins loyal dog” as if the IC aren’t just as loyal to rhys if not more but it’s ok with them because they’re family. The double standards and hypocrisy from feyre is lowkey insane. ACOTAR feyre would have never let this shit slide 🗣️!!
these were a little too real for tiktok. maybe someday…
something about Nesta being compared to an Illyrian. And something about Illyrian females getting their wings clipped in the most obvious form of gender-based oppression and violence.
I'm so unbelievably close to losing my mind
#FreeNestaArcheron
I saw that reply and sat with it in so much shock and for so long that I forgot about it 😭
I just remembered that Cassian sat across from Mor sipping tea while she talked about how Nesta should be in a dungeon or being tortured by being locked up in hewn city and he’s just there blown the fuck away by Mor’s beauty AND THEN LATER she winnows to Illyria where Cassian is training, ogles him and talks to Nesta about how she’ll never deserve him and how attractive he is
Nesta stood up for Cassian during the high lord meeting, in front of EVERYBODY and he can’t take his family aside and tell them to stop starting fights with her? He’ll stand in front of Mor when Eris is around but sit by and do nothing when Rhys threatens Nesta’s life?
He. Does. Not. Love. Her. Funny also that his attitude changed toward her after the war when she was taking other men to her bed. Sjm made her sleep around out of character so that nessian can have hate sex but sjm still virtue signals feminism as if Cassian in acowar wasn’t calling her sweetheart and Cassian in acomaf didn’t wipe away her tears in front of the queens and everyone. He promised her time together as his would-be last words. But then sjm writes that Nesta uses sex to cope and now all-of-a-sudden Cassian is telling her that everybody fucking hates her and that he never asked to be shackled to her. Making it clear she can only use sex as a coping mechanism if it’s sex WITH HIM.
Suddenly he’s not understanding. Suddenly he isn’t gentle with her. No, now he’s an incel who locks Nesta up until she caves and sleeps with him.
It’s hard to imagine a being with wings, who flies in the air, would want to confine his MATE to a house she can’t escape from. Azriel, too, was locked up as a boy and then acts as a prison guard against her? And for Feyre to be the one to do it when she was supposedly traumatized when Tamlin locked her in his mansion? I understand why elain packed her clothes and sent her on her way— she’s the type to save herself and if she sided with Nesta she’d be locked up alongside her.
I’m just saying, ACOSF is a lot to unpack and I’m still processing my shock and disgust years later. I truly can’t believe it happened.
It's been 7 long years.
The final season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians has just begun to release.
The Ares and Apollo cabins are in a dispute over ownership for the flying chariot.
The counselors sit around a table in the Big House.
Percy has just learned that he's (probably) gonna die in the next month, when Clarisse and Michael begin to bicker. Percy has had it up to here.
He starts clapping rhythmically. There is a lull in the room as they stare at him.
He claps faster.
"Oh golly, the road's getting bumpy, cause I've got me some friends who just can't get along-"
years later, on the Argo II, Percy and Jason have a stand-off/argument for something. Annabeth, fed up with their shit, begins clapping.
Percy is the only one who sees it coming, and groans.
Annabeth claps faster.
"Oh golly, the road's getting bumpy, cause I've got me some friends who just can't get along-"
The "They're making Luke seem more sympathetic" arguement drives me insane
That's the point! Luke WAS right! Luke has valid reasons to hate the gods!!! He just went about it the wrong way, but Luke was absolutely 100% right, even percy knew that in the end
i am sorry but goddamn it i miss the spring court.
Will o' the wisps / magic ass sparkle pools /riddle gossip demons / spooky woods / earth sex parties / spritely creatures left and right r u kidding me.
three books later we are spending 700 pages trapped in a suburban grey stone prison lol.
full circle, i want out, take me back.
