Also, my Dad always taught us to let the slowest person lead. That way they can set a natural pace that’s comfortable for them, they don’t feel like they’re constantly going too slow or like they’re being rushed, and everyone can enjoy the hike together.

I’ve implemented this trick in every hike I’ve gone on since I learned it, and it has always been a great success, and the faster paced people never notice that they’re not rushing along at whatever their other pace might’ve been. Highly recommend!

It's important to point out that '"turning red" is an observational descriptor and you should rethink using it (and other observational emotional descriptions) if writing from the 1st person. Unless I'm looking in the mirror, I don't know whether or not my "cheeks redden."

I do know if my face gets hot, and maybe from experience, I know that when my face gets hot, it looks like _____. But if you're writing from the 1st person POV, it's always better to think of how to convey how emotions feel internally.

The Ever Forward container ship has been stuck in the Chesapeake Bay for nearly two weeks after it ran aground offshore Pasadena, Maryland. This Overview shows the 1,095-foot-long (334-meter) vessel next to the dredging equipment attempting to free it from the shoal. The Ever Forward was manufactured by the same company as the Ever Given, the container ship that was stuck in the Suez Canal for nearly a week in March 2021.
